Lifetime has not one but two…count ‘em two…Chief Marketing Officers. Only in LA, darlings. The duo sharing the title and job are BOB BIBB and LEWIS GOLDSTEIN. You might know them as Bob & Lew – think The WB. Yes, they were freelancing before they decided go Staff. The dynamic duo got together when they were both at NBC back in the mid-80’s. They both went to FOX and then on to the WB. Along the way, they picked up some impressive honors: PROMAX/BDA Pinnacle Award in 2000, Brandweek’s Marketers of the Year in 99, etc. Wow. Bibb and Goldstein will be based in Lifetime’s Los Angeles office. Well Dunne Well Dunne!

SHAWN HILEMAN started yesterday as Art Director at WGAL, the NBC affil owned by Hearst in the Lancaster – Harrisburg, PA. CSD JOHN BALDWIN tells me Shawn is coming home to the area and loving the shorter commute time he’ll be doing. He returns after doing graphics for MASN, handling the Washington Nationals games. Before that, he was a graphics designer at FOX in Philly and Sinclair Broadcasting in Hunt Valley. Sounds like he’s always gotten to live in gorgeous parts of the US. Glad he’s come home – and he’ll love working for such a strong, successful operation. Well Dunne!

JOHN COLLING managed to get the head creative slot at Colorado Springs’ KKTV, the Clear Channel CBS affil in that gorgeous Rocky Mountain town. Colling came west from Toledo, where ran departments at Raycom’s NBC affil WNWO and Lin’s FOX affil WUPW. A very belated but enthusiastic Well Dunne!

Excellent article about the Tribune buyout. Don’t click here if you want to read about lollipops and roses…this is from the cuff about the bleak future that might await. Love that LAWEEKLY.

Happy 89th birthday to MARYLU DUNNE. See what happens when you take care of yourself!

Think about This: “… Do not be discouraged because the “means whereby” to bring about the accomplishment of your dreams may not be apparent. In other words, you do not have to know how this will happen. You only have to know that it will happen.” ~ Jack Boland

  • I love you, Kate. Partially cause you seem to see the best in all… even when you view thru the trusted lens of another “pho-
tographer”. Today, we got a glimpse of the very-talented Ned Steinberg at CBS… a regular guy who lucked-in as an intern and helped raise Paley’s Empire to it’s lofty status. Unless we’d read the rolling credits at the end of Ed Murrow’s or Douglas Edwards’ 7PM broadcasts, we’d not even be aware of his talented existence. Thanks to Lynn Grasz and Kate Bacon, we have a glimpse.

  • I love you, Kate. Partially cause you’re a cutie broadcast blonde! But also because you see the best in all… even when you view thru the trusted lens of another “pho-
tographer”. Today, we got a glimpse of the very-talented Ned Steinberg at CBS… a regular guy who lucked-in as an kid-intern and inauspiciously helped raise Paley’s Empire to it’s lofty status. Unless we’d read the rolling credits at the end of Ed Murrow’s or Douglas Edwards’ 7PM broadcasts, we’d not even be aware of his talented existence. Later, we were so mesmerized by the charisma of Ranglin’ Danglin’ Dan Rather, we didn’t even think of the rolling credits!

Thanks to Lynn Grasz and Kate Bacon, we have a glimpse of a young man who learned, grew and matured his craft under that huge clock… the 7PM EST Deadline… in that dark, windowless edit suite in the CBS Tower.

But it’s a bright clear day where Ned Steinberg resides today!! No more clock! No more deadlines! And he’s an equal with Messrs Ed Murrow, Doug Edwards, David Brinkley and John F Kennedy!!!
