This just in…the talented GARY WANN is the new Creative Services Director of NBC affil KPRC in Houston. He begins September 17 and reluctantly leaves his Promo Manager job at KTVT, CBS 11 in Dallas Fort Worth. Look for a picture of Gary on Monday along with more info. He’s out on a shoot when we talked, or you’d have it now. Well Dunne! Gary!
WSPA, the Media General CBS affil down in Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina has welcomed JAMARCUS GASTON to the fold as the new writer producer/Topical man. Like many of you, his talents don’t end at the TV station. He’s a musician. From the 5th grade on, his musical instrument is the Tuba and yes, he did play in the marching band. A graduate of Furman, he has taught high school kids how to be part of the marching band and he sounds like a great guy. MEGAN HANNIGAN is the CSD there who found him – she’s brand new to the market but Jamarcus did an internship last summer, and the two must have realized it was the right thing. Now he’s back on staff – close enough to his parents in Lancaster, South Carolina that he can visit when he wants. Great photo of him thanks to the photog HEATHER B. CIRINCIONE. Well Dunne!
The new Central Graphics Operation in Richmond, Virginia has named a General Manager. It’s JIM DOYLE and he begins September 4. He’ll be heading east from his job at NBC’s KXAS in Dallas/Ft. Worth where he’s been Director of Design. KXAS is the site of NBC’s ArtHouse Design Center, and Jim was instrumental in getting that up and running like clockwork. MG’s CGO (Centralized Graphics Ops) will be supplying all kinds of graphics for the 23 stations they own, and the whole thing should be up and humming by 08. Jim’s background includes stints as Art Director at WISH in Indianapolis and Belo’s CBS affil in St. Louis, KMOV. Thanks to PAUL GAULKE who’s the major head honcho of Creative for the Media General folks.
OK, nobody planned this but in another Media General announcement…this one from WRBL in Columbus, GA, where SHELLY MATTHEWS has been promoted to Marketing Director. She’s been a Writer/Producer. Plus, since the above-mentioned MEGAN HANNIGAN left for WSPA, Shelly’s been filling in and doing a great job. Congrats Shelly. Prior to Columbus TV, Ms. Matthews worked as Broadcast and Sales Executive at Sumter Broadcasting in Americus, GA and working for the US Army as Tactical All Source Intelligence Officer at Ft. Gordon, GA. A salute and Well Dunne!
