This Just In! PROMAX/BDA Chair MIKE BENSON, who is the EVP of Marketing for ABC Entertainment, has announced that the open slot of President for the organization is filled. Drum roll please…the new PROMAX/BDA President is JONATHAN BLOCK-VERK.
Block-Verk comes to Promax/BDA from Canada’s Brunico Communications Ltd., where he served as Publisher and Executive Producer of events for Boards Magazine. In this position, he directed the re-launch of the commercial production trade magazine’s website, www.boardsmag.com, launched Boards iMag and developed a number of annual directories. In addition to contributing to the growth of both the Boards Summit and First Boards Awards events, he is credited with the creation of Boards U, the Creative Workshop series and the Advertising Women of Excellence events, all of which have become industry staples.
“Jonathan’s extensive multi-platform background will be a tremendous benefit to the Promax/BDA organization as we look to offer our membership more opportunities for interactive and peer-to-peer engagement,” said Benson. “This, coupled with his wealth of longstanding relationships and hands-on experience in event production, advertising and marketing, confirms that our extensive search process ultimately led us to the ideal candidate for this unique leadership position.”
In his new role, Block-Verk will be charged with the overall management of the association, and will work with the Promax/BDA Board on long-term growth strategies.
“I’m energized by the incredible opportunities for growth and enrichment I see within the Promax/BDA organization,” commented Block-Verk. “Being able to share my ideas, expertise and relationships to help amplify the value and services we provide and create new opportunities for the membership is very exciting. I’m looking forward to being part of a team that is facilitating the fundamental conversations about marketing, promotion and design and their roles in the monetization of content in the digital age.”
“Jonathan is the balanced personification of all the various aspects of our industry,” added BRETT ASHY, BDA Chairman and President of the Ashy Agency. “He knows what it takes to produce a worthwhile event, he recognizes our desire to offer more value to our members, he appreciates the diverse needs of the marketing, promotion and design communities, and he can help Promax/BDA increase its influence and activity.”
LEE HUNT, President of Lee Hunt, LLC and a long-standing Promax/BDA member, will continue to serve as Interim Managing Director of Promax/BDA until Block-Verk assumes the role of President in January 2008.
So there you are! Great new. Well Dunne! Jonathan. Looking forward to meeting you and learning more about you.
