GM’s are kinda quirky. Well, actually all of us have our quirks, true. One of the GM quirks that have always amused me is their forming work groups that follow them from station to station. Such is the case at Belo’s NBC affiliate WCNC in Charlotte, where the new GM is bringing aboard the CSD he worked with at his former job. Making the switch from Oklahoma City’s KFOR to Charlotte is LUANNE STUART. She’s an Oklahoma girl by birth – born and raised in a small town just 50 miles from The Sooner State’s capital. She’s excited about the move to North Carolina and says Feb 1 is her last day at her old job, which is Vice President/Director of Creative Services. Luanne began her career in front of the camera, doing reporting, anchoring and even some weather in Ada, OK and Ft. Smith, AR before deciding that promotion was a much better way to spend her time. She began as a creative producer at CBS affil KWTV and worked her way to Sr. Producer before KFOR came calling and hired her as CSD. Coming along for the ride is her 14-year-old daughter. Well Dunne! Luanne. Get a GPS system before you arrive because Charlotte changes the names of their streets and it’s easy to get lost. Well Dunne!

Going from Promo Manager to News Director to GM – am I talking fiction or does this happen? Well, it does indeed and we have new WTHR GM JIM TELLUS as a shining example. Just yesterday, Jim was named GM of the NBC affiliate in Indianapolis. He originally came to Indy to be the News Director, having done the same at KOMO in Seattle as well as WVEC in Norfolk and WSNW in Wichita, where he was a promo guy. Well Dunne! Jim! Glad to hear of such good news for such a good guy.
