Heading from one lovely part of the Atlantic seaboard to another is DAN FLAXER. He starts March 24 as the Marketing Director at Media General’s WSAV in gorgeous Savannah, GA. Yeah, he misses Savannah’s biggest day, St. Pat’s, by ‘thatmuch’ but will have the celebration to look forward to next year. The West Virginia native, who calls the town of Jane Lew home, is departing his Promotion Manager slot at WCTI, ABC in New Bern, NC. Looking for his replacement, if you’re interested. He hates leaving, but BRAD MOSES, the GM at WSAV, has a great background in marketing and promotion, and Mr. M enticed Dan as only a good marketing guy can do. Besides, Dan has “be a GM” on his bucket list. He’s already gotten the kitty Valium to make the move easier on his cat. Besides working himself silly, as promo folks tend to do, Dan found time to teach English as a second language to Burmese refugees who’ve settled in coastal Carolina. Dan promises to keep in touch. Well Dunne! Dan.

MIKE THOMAS is now at home as Director of Marketing and Promotions for Nexstar’s Shreveport NBC affil, KTAL. He made the transition from Oklahoma City. The area is known as the Ark-La-Tex, since it covers parts of Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas. Last time I was through there, it had grown like crazy and was full of Vegas-like casinos, neon and big-name talent. Had a great talk with Mike, who is a native of Shreveport and thus has come home in this move. He tells me the largest crawfish convocation happens nearby the end of May. Now THAT would be great fun to attend. Thanks for the heads up, Mike and a huge Well Dunne! to the whole family.
