Yale Law grad JEFF BALLABON is the new SVP of Communications for CBS News. He starts Monday and comes from a very heavy duty PR background. He owned and ran the Ballabon Group out of NYC and DC. He’s no stranger to TV, having worked with CourtTV as well as Primedia Television and Films Media Group. His press releases will no doubt be well written – he has a degree in English lit from Yeshiva U. Well Dunne! Jeff.

What fun irony – the new guy in charge of marketing and PR for HSN is named BRAND. BILL BRAND is now EVP of Programming, Marketing and Biz Development for the Florida based shopping portal. (BTW – the word “portal” is so pompous, don’t ya think?) It’s a promotion for Bill, who has also handled exec programming for Lifetime and VH1 in addition to local TV slots. He’s been a News Director as well as news producer at stations like KCAL and WPRI. Even has an Edward R. Murrow Award. Most Well Dunne! to you Bill.

Oscar weekend peeps. What a great opportunity to Joan Rivers all those skinny folks and gush over the stars you love. ALISON WOO and I are going to live blog the goings-on. Dubbing ourselves THE MOVIE CHIX, you can share our take on the event at http://moviechix.wordpress.com/

Don’t know what to say when you go pick up your Oscar? Adam does. Check out his Oscar Speech Generator by clicking here.

Think About This: “It is hard to let old beliefs go. They are familiar. We are comfortable with them and have spent years building systems and developing habits that depend on them. Like a man who has worn eyeglasses so long that he forgets he has them on, we forget that the world looks to us the way it does because we have become used to seeing it that way through a particular set of lenses. Today, however, we need new lenses. And we need to throw the old ones away.” ~ Kenich Ohmae
