In a world where ‘instant’ and ‘disposable’ are considered assets – and at the same time being in a business where keeping a slot for more than five years puts one in rarified strata, you can imagine how amazing it is to find a pro who earned a career of 35 years in one spot. Happily. It’s a rate thing for someone in TV marketing to get to retire (and afford to) so let’s hear it for KIP BOHNE, who has said goodbye to WSYM, the Scipps’ owned FOX affil in Lansing, Michigan. He started the new year sans alarm clock and marching to only his own drummer. Kip has done a lot at the station, including being instrumental in building the operation from the ground up, clocking in for the first time in 1982. He was named Promotion Manager shortly after that. The station was known as WFSL in those days. Kip has his diploma from Michigan State in East Lansing. He loves media – his wife was an anchor in the market until her retirement. Sounds like Kip had the best of all worlds – loving his job and having fun at the same time. A huge Well Dunne! Kip.
