No sooner did ANDREA LAIGN shine her tail lights on Hearst’s WBAL-TV did she land a sweet gig in Washington, DC at the National Education Association. The NEA’s Interactive Media Department is happy to have her creative flair on board to help them develop the look and feel of their new website, set to launch in January. Did you know that the NEA is the largest professional organization in the country? Andrea is no stranger to the classroom, having taught a writing curriculum to Houston elementary school kids. I know so she’s thrilled her career came full circle. The TV Promotions world feels her absence, but with the way things are going “uop on The Hill’, we’re all better off with someone like Andrea in Washington! My name is Kate Bacon and I approve this message. Well Dunne! kiddo.

Down in lovely Augusta, GA, Media General’s WJBF has a great guy who’s holding down the promo fort, so to speak. ROBERT PIPPIN is a multi-tasker of note, having just recently been a one-man-band at the ABC affiliate. Whew…he did it. Why? He loves what he does. That makes him a lucky and wise man. Looking forward to keeping track of his upward progress…and perhaps anew title after the first of the year? Fingers crossed.

STEVE HARRIS over at KGUN is excited about his new writer producer. “He’s a jewel who was buried in the production department.” That’s how he describes GARY BELL, a native Tucson guy (what IS the proper term for residents of Tucson? Anybody? …Bueller?….Bueller?). Gary’s a quick learner. Sounds like a happy ending for the Creatives at the Journal ABC affiliate in Tucson. Well Dunne! to you both.

Down in Austin, one of the great towns and the capital of the Lone Star State, comes word that JOHN SCOTT is now the Brand Manager for KNVA, the LIN owned CW affil that’s the sister station to NBC affil KXAN. John comes from a radio promo background, which means he’ll be bringing some great “out there” promo ideas to the table. Thanks to the bubbly CSD TISH SALIANI for the update. Well Dunne!

BLOG ALERT: the super-talented former KPRC, WJLA and WBAL producer ANDREA LAIGN has her own blog. Check it out: http://andrealaign.blogspot.com/

Over at CYNOPSIS, CYNTHIA TURNER has hired CHUCK BOLKCOM to be the President and COO of her wonderful multi-media operation. If you don’t know about Cynopsis and the like, you are SO missing out. Chuck comes over Oct 1 fromVuze Inc and his background includes working for Reed Biz TV publications, like BROADCASTING & CABLE and MULTICHANNEL NEWS. Well Dunne! to you both!

Washington DC and Baltimore MD are as close as Beverly Hills and Thousand Oaks…roughly 40 miles. But on the east coast, it’s an entirely different TV market. Making the 40-mile switch is ANDREA LAIGN, who will be returning to Balimur (as the natives say) to rejoin family and college friends when she takes the Writer Producer slot at Heart’s NBC affil WBAL in Charm City. Andrea went to college in Maryland and is looking forward to both the bright new parts of Baltimore, which she says hasn’t eliminated the historical old feel to the city by the bay, in this case Chesapeake. She hates saying goodbye to the folks at ABC affil WJLA in DC like her boss CSD STAN MELTON, JR, but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. Her last day in DC will be Feb 10. Yes, even though it’s only 40 miles, she’ll be moving up I-95 and not commuting. Actually, she’s looking forward to buying a house. Once in Baltimore, she’ll be working under CSD JONATHAN KILLIAN. Well Dunne! Andrea! This is great new for you.

For those of you who are keeping track, this marks the 300th WellDunne blog. And it marks the 4th year I’ve been keeping track of ya’ll’s comings and goings, beginning with Graeme Newell’s Marketing IdeaNet. Now I’m even able to include you in the Fates & Fortunes area of BROADCASTING & CABLE’s online site as well. Thanks for your input and don’t be a stranger!

She DID it! Yes she did, and she trained to do it. Getting the perseverance award and a huge Well Dunne! is ANDREA LAIGN, promo writer-producer extraordinaire at Albritton’s ABC affil WJLA. Ms. Andrea, aka #27635, ran in and finished the Washington, DC Marine Corps Marathon and 10K run. Yep, that definitely puts her off the Couch Potato list. Andrea is the one in the green shorts in the picture. Way to go, Girl! And she writes and produces as good as she runs marathons. Hey, STAN MELTON JR…ya got a good one there.

Getting an upgrade at FOX Sports and FSN is ROBERT GOTTLIEB, who is now SVP/Creative Director for Marketing and On-Air Promotions. He’s been with the company since 2000, and is calling ERIK MARKGRAF, EVP, FOX Sports Marketing.

Interesting read from the LA TIMES about just what lies ahead for TV. Nobody knows….click here.
