It’s an early Christmas for DON SMITH, who is heading to the Utah mountains to take the job of Creative Services Director at ABC affil KTVX in Salt Lake City. He’s looking forward to those mountains, having been in Florida at Hearst’s WESH. It will be a nice change of pace. Not a skier, he’ll no doubt find a lot to do in the capital of the Beehive State. Like find out how it got that nickname. Don has a great background with not one but two Belo stations: KENS in San Antonio and KHOU in Houston. Add a stint in New York where he worked for Stun Creative. He’s got a blog you need to check out: www.idopromoz.blogspot.com All the best, Don. A huge Well Dunne!

Anybody in the Phoenix market who loves movies needs to know about CHRIS AYRES’ Double Feature endeavor. Chris, who is the Art Director of Meredith’s CBS affil KPHO, is showing movies outside on Friday, November 21. Aptly called Backyard Cinema, the first two offerings are Guy Madden’s Brand Upon the Brain in combo with Tarsem Singh’s The Fall. For more info, go to Chris’ MySpace page and check it out. When 2008 turns the last page of the year, long time promo talent DON WELLS will do something that sounds devine – retire. Being a major Baby Boomer, Don is not hanging up his Creative Stripes to do – well, nothing. Nope. Don is going to transform what he does, saying goodbye to the CSD slot at McGraw-Hill’s ABC affil in San Diego, KGTV, (where he’s been for 14 years) and head off to different creative horizons. For instance, he has his Masters degree and will be doing some personal coaching, consulting and begin a new creative venture. A St Louis talent (there are SO many!) who began as a cartoonist, Don is going to rejoin two old work buds from his days under the Arch and form Full Circle Productions. Don is going to be the west coast partner, Bobby Miller will hold down the middle of the US from St. Louis and Carol Williams will handle clients from NYC. He’s VERY excited about this, and it sounds like such an exciting venture. Here are the links to a project that Don’s done…Red State/Blue State:
You have plenty of time to catch up with Don and hear all about it from him. Well Dunne! my friend.

So, before you email that resume to the GM at KGTV…hold on. McGraw Hill has brought one of their own out to San Diego already. A big congrats and a Well Dunne! goes out to JAY MALONEY who is out there, getting up to speed right now. He’s been the #2 at Denver’s ABC affil KMGH, and this new slot will allow him to grow and be the head guy in charge of ideas, promos, marketing and the like. Isn’t that great!

Congrats to RICK FELDMAN, who has re-upped as head of NATPE ‘til 2012. Well Dunne!
