ED ROTH was already hard at work on his second day on the job…caught him in a meeting to be precise. He’s the new Marketing Manager of Scripps’ show The List. He’s happy and adjusting very well to the Phoenix locale. Ed’s been in LA and no doubt will find the real estate prices at this end of I-10 to be more to his liking (to anyone’s liking actually). He’s bringing a wealth of marketing, producing and promotional background with him…including station-side work at WFLD and WMAQ in Chicago and KUSA and KWGN in Denver. Let’s not forget his own consulting The Ed Roth Show which found his work on CNN, ABC and cool baseball promos for The San Diego Padres. He was part of the legendary Jacobs and Gerber at one time, and was Executive Director Creative Service for Buena Vista TV, now called Disney/ABC Domestic Television. He’s got a very impressive list of his own! Well Dunne! Ed.

Many of you are reading this on 9/11. Time has eased the blow, diminished the shock, and given us all time to come to terms with the myriad of changes these 12 years have brought.  Saying nice things about BRIAN BLUM isn’t just easy – it’s a treat. Prepare yourselves, since Brian is the focus of today’s WDTB (which would make great call letters, in case that ever comes up…). Mr. B, who is VP of Creative Services at Fox’s NYC operation, aka WNYW, is going to retiring and moving back to his west coast digs, which is where his family has been calling home for quite some time. Brian has been with Foxny for the last 10 years and was with CBS’ KPIX in San Francisco before that. Just like a Cosmo article, he and his wife did a bi-coastal marriage, which is a feat unto itself. Come the end of this month, he’ll be in the same zip code nightly and enjoying the best weather in the country. The timing is perfect – he’s already closed on his NY condo so the signs all point to “right track”. His stellar career path included getting his foot in as producer at WBBM in Chicago, then going on to be Promo Manager at Philly’s WCAU and Director of Marketing and Program Development at Miami’s WFOR. Brian is the go-to guy for marketing direction and, despite the fact we know he’ll be very very happy, he will be missed. BTW, Brian was the very first person to sign up to get the WDTB and he will forever be a favorite of mine! A huge Well Dunne! Brian.

Ending the summer in a totally fabulous way – marketing guru BILL HARTNETT. He and his lovely wife have welcomed a new little one into the world. Kudos for those who didn’t think let alone utter ‘now that’s taking labor day literally’.

Well, fall is really here. They’re serving Pumpkin Latte’s at Starbucks and there’s a few Christmas things for sale on shelves in between all the Halloween candy.

A sweet and happy Hebrew New Year 5774.

Any True Blood fans out there? Do you get a kick out of the fact Bonne Temps is just a quick trip out of Shreveport? We’ll have to ask KATHARYN DEVILLE if she’s into the HBO series, since she’s now a fulltime resident of Louisiana’s third largest city. What’s taken Ms. DeVille (a perfect French name for the Frenchiest of all US states) to Shreveport is her slot as KTBS’s new Marketing Director. She’s been in Dallas at WFAA where she was heading up Digital Marketing and in charge of digital product. Katharyn comes from a news background and has been a producer for stations in New Orleans as well as at WFAA itself. She’s back home now in Louisiana, where she was an LSU Tiger. Well Dunne! Katharyn.

I guess it was because she was born in LA that MALIA ARMANI loves summer and sunshine. She’s happy as can be now for two reasons..one is that it is definitely summer and two because she has a great new job. Malia is now the Promotion Manager of CBS’s Denver operation, KCNC. Despite her California debut, Malia is a Denver girl through and through, having landed there as a 1 year old. Since then, she’s been drinking in the mile high city even though she’s not a big fan of winter and the resultant sports for which Denver is noted. The lucky lady has been able to work in the TV promo world all this time. She’s coming to CBS from KDVR, the Fox outlet (and she adores her old boss MAIA BRUSSEAU) and before that she doing promo for the CW outlet. A very big Well Dunne! Ms. Maia, who qualifies for a Great Name alert.

Job Alert – Creative Services Manager WGRZ Buffalo

DIANA RICHARDSON is one of those promo types who forged the biz and blazed the trail. She’s got a birthday this Monday, so as you’re doing the Labor Day relaxation routine, think good thoughts on her behalf.

Just a reminder that Well Dunne! is all about voices. Who else can find you the perfect sound for your brand and your budget? Nobody.

Let’s take a breather for the long weekend. Please have a safe, happy, relaxing time. And step away from the computer/iPhone unless you’re watching a movie – unplug and see what happens.
