Cross county moves are totally energizing. Different vibes, different weather, different architecture and landscape. Always keeps the brain sharp. Making such a cross country move is KRISTIE GONZALES, who will be traveling from her slot in Fresno, CA to her new slot of CSD at ABC’s WTVD in Raleigh – Durham, as in North Carolina. Google maps puts the trip at approximately 2,645 miles. Ms. Kristie will bring that California sunshine to the NC capital – she’s been Creative Services and Public Affairs Director at ABC’s KFSN. She’s had a very exciting 2013 so far, including a trip to Rome. Kristie has worked at WPVI in Philadelphia as well as Albuquerque’s KOB and KOAT, the CBS and ABC affils. The big move happens in mid March. A great big Well Dunne! to Kristie.

Thank you for all your caring thoughts on the death of my mother, Marylu Dunne. She was in the radio business, and many of her friends went on to be the pioneers of TV in St. Louis, our hometown. She is now, no doubt, reunited with all the wonderfully crazy co-workers and friends she worked with. How I wish there was a copy of her radio show, which aired during WWII – Saturday morning she would do a roundup on the availability of rationed items at area markets. There is no question that I inherited the broadcast gene as well as the shopping gene from her. Mahalo.

MORGAN FOREMAN is keeping warm this winter up in Lincoln, Nebraska with a new job. She’s the new Promotion Manager at ABC affil KLKN, where before now, she had been the go-to lady for commercial production, with the title Creative Services Director. At no time was she ever part of the Foreman grill, just in cast that popped into your head. A very happy, peppy Morgan loves video production, and if you love what you do, it just comes through. The Iowa native has worked at Des Moine’s ABC affil WOI, too. Did you ever hear a name and then picture what a person named that name would look like? Then when you see that person, they look like what you thought they would? Happened with a very talented guy named PETER ZEMANSKY, who is the latest member of KCCI’s creative team. KCCI being the Hearst-owned CBS affiliate in Des Moines, Iowa. KCCI CSD NICK ALLARD said Peter proved timing is everything…the right person, right there, at the right time. Peter interned at the station and worked his way up from there to Production Assistant to Director and was looking for a great new slot when – voila – Nick was on the hunt for a writer producer. I write about lots of great, creative people. But when you write about someone special, it’s the most fun. Today, it’s fun to tell you about DON SMITH. Mr. Don isn’t just muy creative, he’s also one of the good guys. And he’s been offered…and he accepted…the Creative Services Director job at CBS’ KOVR in Sacramento. He’s been there for a few years as Promo Manager, and this step into the “big chair” is going to be a real plus for the Sacto market. The station is very special to me…it was once owned by a friend’s father and was where a dear, departed colleague worked magic. Don fits into the KOVR family like a glove. He’s a southern gentlemen hailing from Lake Charles, LA and has worked for Belo at their San Antonio and Houston operations, KENS and KHOU respectively. He did a super job at Hearst’s WESH in Orlando and went west to Salt Lake City’s KTVX. Many of you know Don as the guy who puts together that super blog, Idopromoz. So I know you’ll join me in sending out a great big Well Dunne! Don. So happy and proud.

Know what this post is? The 600th Well Dunne! one, that’s what. Boy, have a lot of things changed in the timeframe of these 600 posts. But one thing remains the same – creative people finding new places and opportunities to display their talents. That’s what this is all about. So to one and all who follow their inner guide…the ones who yearn to express through art, writing, producing, acting, voicing or editing…music or seeing the overall big picture..here’s to you. If you believed you were totally protected and secure, that forevermore your life would be filled with love and prosperity? Think of how you would venture forth knowing you would succeed. Think of how your heart would open, of how free you would feel. How free you would be to love. All of this is the treasure that life offers us. We just lack the consciousness to experience it." ~ Susan L. Taylor
