I write about lots of great, creative people. But when you write about someone special, it’s the most fun. Today, it’s fun to tell you about DON SMITH.  Mr. Don isn’t just muy creative, he’s also one of the good guys. And he’s been offered…and he accepted…the Creative Services Director job at CBS’ KOVR in Sacramento. He’s been there for a few years as Promo Manager, and this step into the “big chair” is going to be a real plus for the Sacto market. The station is very special to me…it was once owned by a friend’s father and was where a dear, departed colleague worked magic. Don fits into the KOVR family like a glove.  He’s a southern gentlemen hailing from Lake Charles, LA and has worked for Belo at their San Antonio and Houston operations, KENS and KHOU respectively. He did a super job at Hearst’s WESH in Orlando and went west to Salt Lake City’s KTVX. Many of you know Don as the guy who puts together that super blog, Idopromoz. So I know you’ll join me in sending out a great big Well Dunne! Don. So happy and proud.

It’s a girl for Mama CANDACE HIRLEMAN ARCHER. Making her absolutely beautiful debut is Ella Kaliani Archer. Gorgeous Hawaiian middle name which mean Heaven. And she is one bit of heaven here on this planet. Candace is the VP of Creative Services  at KGO in San Francisco. Wonderful news.

Job Alert – Manager, Affiliate Relations and Promotion for The Jerry Springer Show and The Steve Wilkos Show, both through NBC in Stamford, CT job 8455BR

Finally – you can now multitask breakfast thanks to Wired Waffles. What is a wired waffle? It’s a delicious breakfast treat that has caffeine in the waffle! Flavors include the ever popular Bacon Maple. Who could ask for anything more?

No easing into the new job of Creative Director at Loyalkaspar…not for DARRYL MASCARENHAS. He jumped right into a co-branded spot for The Walking Dead and Windows 8 before he even got the feel of his new space. Darryl was just recently Associate CD at Moving Picture Company in NYC and has also worked at Eyeball/NYC. He hales from Australia, mate, and worked at Syndey-based Post Modern (which changed their name to Method Studios) and also Steam. It’s all good and we say Well Dunne! Darryl.

Just in case this is the end of the world and the Mayans were right, it has been a wonderful journey to do this blog and to get to know you all….such talented people. If this isn’t the end of the world and the Mayans were not right, then check out the jobs available:

Coming over from ABC, where he was SVP Marketing of ABC Daytime and SOAPnet, to NBC’s Fandango is ADAM ROCKMORE. He has such a fascinating background in marketing – no doubt using his MBA in Marketing from Michigan daily. The BA in Economics from UPenn isn’t on the back burner, either. Adam has worked as SVP of Marketing at Scripps Shop At Home Network and was VP Marketing, E-Commerce and PR at Food Network. How cool is this…he also worked as Director of Global Marketing and E-Commerce for Godiva Chocolatier. MMMmmmm. A Well Dunne! to you Adam.

Well Dunne for September 28 2009

Sep 28, 2009 by     Comments Off on Well Dunne for September 28 2009    Posted under: 600th Well Dunne, Featured

Know what this post is? The 600th Well Dunne! one, that’s what. Boy, have a lot of things changed in the timeframe of these 600 posts. But one thing remains the same – creative people finding new places and opportunities to display their talents. That’s what this is all about. So to one and all who follow their inner guide…the ones who yearn to express through art, writing, producing, acting, voicing or editing…music or seeing the overall big picture..here’s to you. Don’t let anybody get you down and never give up.

NBC and new USA series are doing that promo thing with partners.

Well this trend sucks…and is why I am so disappointed with my old client, Doritos, who has a major league A+ agency working for them.

Think About This: “How would you live if you felt you could trust life fully? If you believed you were totally protected and secure, that forevermore your life would be filled with love and prosperity? Think of how your fears would dissolve, of how totally accepting of yourself and others you would be–it wouldn’t matter if they met your expectations or not. Think of how you would venture forth knowing you would succeed. Think of how your heart would open, of how free you would feel. How free you would be to love. All of this is the treasure that life offers us. We just lack the consciousness to experience it." ~ Susan L. Taylor
