Sep 29, 2009 by     Comments Off on Well Dunne for September 29, 2009    Posted under: Chris Iller, Dale Wyman, John Rice, Nick Sanabria, Travis Collins

Settling into Charlotte is TRAVIS COLLINS, the newly hired creative writer producer at Raycom’s WBTV. Travis moves east from Abe Lincoln’s Springfield, IL. He’ll be working with CSD JOHN RICE and should enjoy the mild Charlotte winters and gorgeous Spring to come. Well Dunne! Travis.

Meanwhile, DALE WYMAN is heading to the California capital, KCRA to head up the Hearst affiliate’s NBC operation. He’s left the NBC affil in Las Vegas – after 22 years. He’s going to love Sacramento and I will bet they are going to love him right back. Well Dunne! Dale. And isn’t that the cutest picture (borrowed from his Facebook page).

Job Alert: CHRIS ILLER is looking for a writer producer at the Albuquerque CW/MyTV duop. Don’t call him, but email your resume. Yes, I’ll give you that email if you contact me via Facebook, Twitter or Linked In.

Job Alert: TruTV is looking for a creative type to write and produce on-air promos for the cable net. Actually they are. Got to edit and have at least 3 years of experience. NYC based. Info and applications at www.turnerjobs.com Req#114319

Well Dunne! Talent’s own NICK SANABRIA just finished a fun video piece for the net. Anti drunk driving in theme, Nick’s comedy stylings (love that phrase) are finding attention as viral marketing tools. Remember him if you need that kind of thing.

Well Dunne! for September 2, 2009

Sep 2, 2009 by     Comments Off on Well Dunne! for September 2, 2009    Posted under: Hallmark Channel, Mark Kern, Martin Reidy, Nick Sanabria, oprah Michigan ave, Susanne Smith McAvoy

The folks at Hallmark Channel care enough to name SUSANNE SMITH McAVOY senior VP of Marketing. She was formerly VP of Ad Sales. Under the new structure, she’ll do marketing and branding. Oh, and that includes Hallmark Movie Channel, too. Also it’s a homecoming (a real Hallmark moment) for MARK KERN who’s now the VP of Communications and Media Relations. He was with Hallmark when they launched and has a background that includes media and PR for Reelz and Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video companies. Well Dunne! you two.

As we move into that new world of communicating, MARTIN REIDY is poised to be in the right place at the right time for Meredith…he’s been named President of the Meredith Integrated Marketing unit. He comes from Prez of Publicis Moden and Digital. Cool.

Those of you in Chicago – that means you NICK SANABRIA – make your plans now to avoid what might be a monumental traffic jam in downtown Chicago. Oprah is going to tape her show along the famed Michigan Avenue, aka the Magnificent Mile. Tuesday Sept 8 is the tape date. Oprah never does anything but in a big way…Well Dunne.

Well Dunne! for July 24, 2009

Jul 24, 2009 by     Comments Off on Well Dunne! for July 24, 2009    Posted under: KCAL rebrand, KCBS, Matt Bomer, National Tequila Day, Nick Sanabria, Sean McBride, Sox perfect game

It’s National Tequila Day in Mexico. In the spirit of international cooperation, I believe those of us in the US and Canada need to help our Latin neighbors out and embrace this celebration to the fullest.

SEAN MCBRIDE is having a blast as CSD at Fisher’s CBS affil in Boise, KBCI. The low humidity is in total contrast to his last TV job in Victoria TX. Sean didn’t mention missing proximity to the Gulf, but he is thrilled at Idaho’s beauty. Enjoy life and keep up that great work, Sean. Well Dunne!

KCBS and KCAL are rebranding. Learn more here.

The future of TV is bright…glowing. Morgan Stanley says so, and the idea of good news is SO overdue. Read here.

USA net has a new series coming in the fall starring MATT BOMER. OK, so he’s the best looking thing to hit TV in a long time. I just needed to share.

Well Dunne! Talent’s NICK SANABRIA, based in Chicago where he has his recording studio, did not get to go to the Sox perfect game Thursday, but his wife did. Lucky lady.

Spring brings with it new beginnings. Yeah…we NEED new beginnings in so many ways. NICK SANABRIA, a Well Dunne! Talent, brought forth the idea that we are all experiencing so much that we can’t process it and it’s driving us mad. I mean, who isn’t experiencing pressures and unsureness…who knows what the future honestly holds and who to trust…all around, we see businesses collapse along with projects and jobs evaporating.  We are swamped.

That said, let’s turn out sights to happy things. Back to new beginnings. RANDY FOULDS is trading his Tampa Bay address for one in La Quinta, CA. It’s a homecoming of sorts – his first job as a promo writer producer was at KESQ. He’s been in the promo world for 22 years at such locales as Tucson and New Orleans. Now, he’ll be entering the family insurance business and, of course, bringing his own creative twist to it by adding insuring race cars and high-end collector autos. Cool! He’s keeping his hand in the ad biz by working with two agencies and putting together a project with some other creative types. Stay in touch, Randy and Well Dunne!   BTW, he has this advice: “Mentor those you can with patience and humor. The next generation of media needs our experience. And, for the next generation, choose your own mentors carefully; they can kill your career as easily as they can help you. Never stop learning and honing your talents. And, after 22 years, you will have the right to say been there, done that.”
A sad note. Many of you know former GM IRWIN STARR. His significant other, Ms CHARLES ANN VALENTINE lost her valiant battle against brain cancer. The folks on Siesta Key, FL are going to hold a butterfuly relea
se in her name. So when you see a butterfly, think of the wondrous Charlie. She would love that.
Anybody get the Fine Living Network newsletter? It’s great and thank heavens this issue has 40 recipes for martinis!

New Year’s Eve

Dec 30, 2008 by     Comments Off on New Year’s Eve    Posted under: Lewis Black, Nick Sanabria, The Best is Yet To Come

Happy Birthday to you…please sing along. The birthday greeting today goes out to Well Dunne! Talent NICK SANABRIA. The multi-talented Chicagoland resident – he does voice work, composes music and has a great recording studio in downtown Second City – is blowing out birthday candles as well as saying goodbye to ’08 today. Nick, you rock. Happy birthday hugs to ya.

So what does 09 have in store? The Best Is Yet To Come. It’s the theme for this new set of 365 days that lay before us. What better way to begin the year than laughing along with LEWIS BLACK, who’s performing in Phoenix. Who could ask for more?

Hey Cher…down New Orleans way comes word that BILLY PILGRIM JR. has been promoted at the Hearst NBC affiliate WDSU. He’s now Promotion Manager. Congrats and Well Dunne! Billy called with the new on the day they had snow in NO – totally out of the normal weather range for the Crescent City. The white covering didn’t last long nor did it cool down the hot times the city is noted for. Billy’s been at the station over a year as writer producer and got the bump last week. He’d been holding down the creative fort in the wake of CSD JOE SCHILTZ‘s departure and #2 JEFF FUNK’s move back home to Atlanta. Did such a good job, they reintated the formerly erased #2 slot and gave it to Mr. P. Billy will be part of the great team waiting for new CSD ANDREE BOYD ZAMARLIK when she takes over. Happy Holidays, Billy! Thanks for the update.

Trailer Park, the promo marketing group out of LA whose name just works, has a new guy on board. EVAN GEERLINGS is tasked with Business Development of the newly created Digital Design Group. Cool. Read about it on the B&C site by clicking.

For those of you from fully functional family units, don’t listen to the NICK SANABRIA ditty that pokes fun at the holiday family gatherings happening this time of the year. Nick is a Well Dunne! Talent talent whose voice is perfect for TV work. I can’t load the blasted thing on this site…so just email me via Linked In and I’ll get it to you. It’s HILARIOUS!

Congrats to the new Chief Mareting Officer for Oprah’s OWN Network. LIZ DOLAN comes over from Nike to take the lead and she’ll office in Burbank. She’s a Brown grad with a background in radio as part of the Satellite Sisters.
