Well Dunne! for Monday, June 22, 2009

PROMAX wrapped up with a dazzling Awards Show, voiced by ED GREEN. OK, that’s my Well Dunne! Talent plug for the day…relax and read on. Now that those in attendance are back at their office, head clear….The award winners are here.

Who won one of the highly coveted guitars that STEPHEN ARNOLD MUSIC was giving away on the PROMAX floor? Find out tomorrow. Got a call in right now.

I think it’s so cool when someone who was on staff resigns, starts their own shop and gets to rep their former employer. It’s what JEFF PRYOR, former EVP/Corporate Communications with MGM, did. In his case, he didn’t begin a company – he went back to one he had begun. Priority PR is his LA based agency. Well Dunne! Jeff.

TV is THE brand builder, baby. The net can’t seem to do it alone. So stop counting TV out, people.

CBS sees the future of the biz one way…NBC another. Read about it here and then let me know what you think.

News? Of course you have it. Share it. Now go have a great day.

Think About This: “Be brave enough to live creatively. The creative is the place where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. You can’t get there by bus, only by hard work, risking, and by not quite knowing what you’re doing. What you’ll discover will be wonderful: yourself. “ ~ Alan Alda

Leap Year Day 2008

Happy Extra Day. I believe you should do something totally out of character and frivolous today. Something totally fun and imaginative. Come on…you have what it takes to make this day absolutely amazing! Do it!

Making a great move is North Carolina’s SHELLEY BOHNING. Today’s her last day at FOX’s WGHP up in High Point, NC. Yes, the furniture capital. She’ll make the jump to work with Dejaviewmedia, a turnkey production company up in that area of NC (gorgeous area, btw). Shelley is going to reunite with her former boss at WGHP, COUNCIL BRADSHAW, who began Dejaview in 2006. I wrote all about it then. Shelley is going to produce fulltime for them. Great to hear. Well Dunne! to all those at Dejaview!

We all know that STEPHEN ARNOLD Music really rocks the world of TV. Now they’re expanded to the Internet, putting together music for Weatherbug. Check it out. Way cool.

Now that the February book is over, and there’s a hint of spring in the air, you have time to let me know all about what you’re doing. So, the for second time in this post, I’ll urge ya’ll to “do it”!

Think about this: It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power. ~ Alan Cohen

Break out the sunglasses and chalk one up for love. PHIL KRAFT, who I discovered in the newsroom in Charlotte, is the new Sr. Writer Producer for Marketing at COX’s market-leading ABC affil WFTV in Orlando, FL. He’ll be leaving the fine folks at CBS’s KPIX in the Bay Area to make the move across country. The reason? Love. His wife TANYA has a fab new gig in the Sunshine state. She’s a traffic engineer, and the two relative newlyweds have been on opposite coasts for quite some time now. You can imagine the fun in that…not. SO, Mr. Phil pitched for the job and CSD BOB ST. CHARLES agreed it was a great fit. Phil has been promoing at ABC affil WJLA for CSD STAN MELTON JR, too. Don’t you just love it when the kids grow up and do well? Well Dunne! Phil. See you soon!

I love the way The Sportsman Channel wrote about the new job given to JENNIFER GNAS. TSC said she was elevated. Isn’t that a great way to say promoted? She’s now … Senior Coordinator/Public Relations and Event Planning. Also at the channel which focuses on ‘all hunting, all fishing all the time’ comes word of another elevation. TRACY MARTIN is now Coordinator/Affiliate Marketing. Well Dunne! ladies!

Stephen Arnold Music has news. There’s a new release of their Box Of Rocks tunes. All kinds of music for politics, drama and sports. Doesn’t that sum up what 2008 will bring? Sure does. For more info, go to Stephen’s site by clicking here.

Expanding their marketing department (don’t you LOVE to hear those words!) is WE tv. The Big Apple based cable net has hired NYU Masters holder JENNIFER KRANZ as vice president of advertising and branding. Jennifer comes from Lifetime and has also worked at NBCU’s SciFi Channel and USA Network. But wait – there’s more. Former Hallmark Channel VP of Ad Sales JENNIFER MCGUIGAN is WE tv’s new vice president of trade marketing. She’s a Middlebury grad. And completing the hat trick is Franklin & Marshall’s KEREN UNRAD who comes over from Oxygen. Way to go and Well Dunne!

No dummies they. Read about how smart the marketing folks are at the online nets. You know, back in ’88, the strike took eyeballs from TV sets and put them on cable nets. Now, I predict, the strike will put eyeballs online, which is what the strike is all about. Click here. And thanks to TVWeek.
