Living the Aloha life is KELLY DONNELL, who will probably not miss the snowy Portland, Maine winters he experienced while heading up the creative team at WGME. Not that Portland isn’t a very cool spot – it is. It’s just that comparing Honolulu and Portland is a tad bit unfair.  Kelly is now in the islands, under the palms, not all that far from Waikiki. Ahhhh – paradise. He’s taken the reigns at Raycom’s duop, KGMB/CBS and KHNL/NBC, which is what the islanders call Hawaii News Now. Kelly has his degree from University of Florida and has worked in some amazing markets, like New Orleans, Seattle, Philly and Chicago. Mahalo for the picture, Kelly and a big Well Dunne! to you.

Hard work that garners attention…it does make a difference. Career promotions result and one such example is no further away than San Diego, where HEATHER BOHN has been named Brand Director of NBC’s KNSD. Heather, a Cal State Fullerton grad, has a fascinating background. At one time she worked with The Osbornes. Yes, THOSE Osbornes. For nearly 2 years, Heather was in charge of the O’s  PR, events and all the like. How cool is that? Will make dealing with news room craziness seem like a garden party at the palace. Heather has a worked with famous authors, musicians and kept everybody on schedule, on time, and on the right path before she went into TV fulltime, where she produced news segments before heading over to promotion. The perfect blend of all her background is in marketing and brand management, so Heather is going to shine even brighter. Well Dunne! Ms. Bohn.

Macon is just south of Big A and is practically a suburb – one with the most gorgeous historic old mansions you can imagine.

IKE ANYACHONKEYA (pictured) joins Jeff’s crew from WEHT/WTVW in Evansville, IN where he was a News Producer and Promo Producer. Ike has a degree from UNC Charlotte and he’s worked at WCNC as well as NBC News Channel.

Family first…it’s one of the most cited reason for job changes. With the real estate market rather iffy, with children wanting to stay in their classes, with elderly parents needing more and more help, family reasons are behind more and more job switches. Such is the case with CHUCK SPRUILL who is leaving Belo’s WVEC in the Norfolk VA market and joining WPDE down in the Florence – Myrtle Beach, SC market. Yep, his family is there and he’s been seeing them only on weekends. Not to mention taking that 300 mile trip on weekends. No fun. Now Mr. Chuck is going to be a much happier guy. And he deserves it. He does great creative work, too. Win-win. Well Dunne! Chuck.

Taking Chuck’s place at WVEC is ED TUDOR, who has experience running creative departments and has been at WVEC for the last year or so. Ed’s one of the good guys and he’ll no doubt take everything up a notch in Norfolk. Well Dunne! Ed.

After quite a few months sitting in the CSD chair of CBS affil WUSA as a consultant, SANDY GEHRING is going to become the fulltime occupant of said chair. The Gannett owned flagship has been splitting Ms. Sandy’s time between DC and Orlando. Ms. G started her career in Sioux City, Iowa with a degree from  University of Nebraska at Omaha. She’s worked in promo for NBC and served as GM at WTKR TV in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia as well as GM of The Daily Buzz program. I know she’s busy already. Well Dunne Sandy.

Martha is entering assisted living and would love to hear from everybody….so please take a moment and drop her a card or note at 2236 Merton Avenue Los Angeles, CA 90041 It would be a very good thing to do.

Austin, Texas is one of those ideal towns (traffic not included, of course) and people really hate to leave once they arrive. That made it easier for MARK WILLENBORG, Director of Creative Services and Marketing at Belo’s ABC affil KVUE when he was looking for an editor and a graphics pro. He didn’t have to look far. KASEY LANSANGAN is his new artist and  he comes over from a slot at KXAN. He’s also worked at WDTN and he did freelance work under the cool name Flying Tricycle. Sitting in the editing seat doing post production work is TYLER WIETHORN, who’s a Longhorn UT grad. He’d been at KEYE doing promo as well as doing animated textbooks (!) for Powerhouse Animation Studios. A double Well Dunne! to Kasey and Tyler.

Promo pro CHRIS SLOAN turned his marketing talents honed at NBC into a successful Miami-based company, 2C Media that produces dynamite promos for lots of other networks. Well Chris has also stepped it up and is producing shows as well. His newest effort premieres Tuesday night at 9 on the Travel Channel. Check it out, and check out the USA Today story as well. Very exciting and Well Dunne! Chris.

It took a long time, but CSD SHELLY LESLIE at Raleigh’s WRAL has finally found her Senior Writer Producer and he’s very, very talented. And from St. Louis and a Cardinals fan. Downright perfect. BRIAN SPENCER begins next week. He’s been at KSDK in St. Louis honing his creative juices for the last 8 years, and he knows how to do Topicals as only one who has spent time in a newsroom can boast. The Lindenwood grad (he went to CBC High School…always an important thing for St. Louis people to know) has outside TV interests as well…he’s the President of the St. Louis Hurling Club. No, not THAT kind of hurling – it’s Gaelic football. He’s going to love Raleigh and I predict an insurgence of hurling in the NC capital. Well Dunne! Brian.

Being a southern gentleman by birth, MATT LAWS is right at home in Atlanta, where he is now at Gannett’s WXIA, the NBC affiliate.  His new title is the Creative Services Director. Matt is originally from South Carolina, so he’s definitely closer to home and family. He makes the transition from KIRO in Seattle (that job is open – consider this another Job Alert). Matt also headed up creative at WOAI in San Antonio and WLWT Cincinnati, KOCO in OKC and WUPW in Toledo. A big mint julep inspired Well Dunne! Matt.

The lovely MELISSE MARKS is now at home in Cincinnati, where she is heading up the creative marketing efforts for Scripps’ WCPO, the ABC affiliate. The Fairfield, IL native knows her way around the ABC network…she was chairman and member of the network Marketing Advisory Board. The last few months, she’s been spending time on the west coast with her dad down La Jolla way (love that town!). Her new, official title is Director, Marketing and Creative Services. And she’s working for a former promo pro who’s now GM…no need to go into major explanations about why an Image campaign is important. Melisse, an SIU-Carbondale grad, was at Evanston’s WEHT and started in the biz via radio. A great big Well Dunne! Melisse.

CHRISTINA ROMENTO has a lot on her list, namely The List. It’s the syndicated show produced by Scripps in Phoenix. She’ll be leaving the wonderful DON SMITH behind at KOVR and Ms. heading to the Valley of the Sun. That makes about the fifth person to take the highway out of Sacramento to Phoenix (down the 5 to the 10). Ms. Christina has a cool resume that includes promo work in Austin and even working for Bunim Murray Productions. Well Dunne! Christina.

What is it about driving across the country that always captures our imagination? The idea of wheeling down Route 66 from Chicago to LA…seeing the Atlantic and then Pacific with all that’s in between….well, it’s part of the American psyche. JIM GRAVINA is going to enmesh himself in the open road when he departs Fresno, CA and ambles across the country to his new job in Miami. Jim has been CSD at Granite’s KSEE and has decided that what he really loves is the hands-on creative process itself, and is going to work for NBC in South Florida, where he’ll be editing and making creative gold for CSD and Programming head JOSE SUAREZ. Stops on the trip will be Indiana, where he once worked in Ft Wayne. Jim is a professional magician (this is his YouTube post), so he’ll no doubt be finding out how magic his new city will be. Well Dunne! Jim.

It’s really the American Dream personified. From intern to President of a huge company in eight years.  Sounds like a movie script, but it’s the real life of JOE TAMANINI,  recently promoted to President of Studio City, the branding marketing company, in Studio City, the town in the LA Valley. The small town Pennsylvania kid was first Intern, then Production Editor, then Head of Creative Department, then VP and now, the big chair. Joe studied Broadcasting at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania. Obviously, he paid attention. A great big Well Dunne! Joe.

Friday was a busy one for Well Dunne!’s KELLY PIDGEON, who had to bug out of the KDKA Spaghetti Breakfast to cover the hostage situation in Pittsburgh. The same one that kept the folks at KDKA-TV holed up in their station. TINA VEON, CSD of the TV side, was Facebooking the day, proving that social media is indeed changing how a story unfolds. Kelly was the first on the scene and kept the info coming, even with spaghetti sauce on his hands. Can you imagine what people thought of that – the spaghetti sauce, not the info.
