What are you doing Sunday. Yeah, this Sunday. The 30th. If you’re anywhere near Atlantic City, you’re in luck….you can go to the Iron Room and see ANDREA LAIGN’s amazing photos. She’s a former promo pro (WJLA, WBAL, KPRC) who is now Lead Consultant to the digital goins-on at the NEA. She’s got an amazing eye and her photos are worth the trip to AC. If I were in Philly, I’d SO be there. She’s one of the ones who earn a Well Dunne!

Yes, taking a few days off. Needed days off. Why are you still here…I’m headed to the beach!

Job Alert – CSD WSVN Miami

Think About This: “It has always seemed strange to me…The things we admire in men, kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling, are the concomitants of failure in our system. And those traits we detest, sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness, meanness, egotism and self-interest, are the traits of success. And while men admire the quality of the first they love the produce of the second.”  `~  John Steinbeck Cannery Row

One way to warm up a bitterly cold winter is to get a promotion. That’s what’s happened to none other than DAVE MCDONALD who is now the Manager of On-Air Promotion for WPIX in the big, cold Apple. He’s been doing the Sr. Writer Producer thing for them and that obviously has worked out pretty well. Dave’s background is super – it includes work for USA Network, WCAU in Philly, Food Network and WWOR among other creative outlets. If you’re cold and want to warm up, join us in saying really really loud Well Dunne! Dave.

Oscar Sunday is upon us. The golden statue will be handed out to a short film, and the collection of these are usually delightful but seldom easy to find. Leave it to the very resourceful ANDREA LAIGN, former TV promo pro who is now a producer on the NEA Digital Engagement Team. She not only found them showing in DC, she reviewed them.

Sometimes, one can find themselves in a familiar spot, but realize they have grown from the time they left until the time they returned. When JIM HART looks back at the adventures he’s had since he left being CSD at Scripps’ KNXV in Phoenix, he’ll have a lot to ponder. Today (Monday) marks his return to the ABC affil as head of marketing, and he has put a lot of mileage on his life’s odometer. He’s been consulting the marketing efforts of one of Scripps’ syndicated shows and launched it. That alone would be enough, but no…Jim went to exploring in Europe where he walked The Camino in Spain. If you don’t know what that is, look it up and you’ll agree it’s an amazing journey on many levels. So glad to see Jim back in the Valley of the Sun and happy. Well Dunne! Mr. Hart.

Remember when watching the Super Bowl was a one-screen event and you had to wait to see not only who won the game but wait to view all the cool adverts in it? Today’s multi-screen world has given a lot of pre-play to the $4 million ads as well as all kinds of buzz. More bang for the buck. In pre-game coverage, it seems that touching the heart spots are back – perhaps one will be akin to the famous Mean Joe Green spot that always lands in the Top Commerials of All Time list.

It’s been a tough week for a lot of you…the gates to the  Rainbow Bridge section of heaven have swung open. Sadly, CHARLIE VAN DYKE, ANDREA LAIGN, and Well Dunne’s MIKE BRATTON have all lost their dogs. Sending all of you condolences.

DC is hot this time of year. Literally. And it just got hotter with the news that ANDREA LAIGN will be joining the Fox creative team in the nation’s capital. Her new title under VP MIKE HENRY is Senior Writer Producer, and she’ll be absolutely fabulous. A native of the area, Ms. Andrea has worked at ABC affil WJLA under their super then-CSD STAN MELTON and the talented BONNIE WOOD…and just down the road at Hearst’s WBAL in Baltimore.  The high energy lady also worked at KPRC in Houston, so she’s bringing a lot of know-how to the new assignment. A new media kind of girl, Ms. Laign has some of my favorite Facebook posts and a darn cute dog.  Well Dunne! Andrea.

Job Alert – Graphic Designer at KSTP in Minneapolis

A Well Dunne! to Apple, who as of July 20 is giving all their store employees a $4 an hour raise. Is there a better way to share their wealth and help global economics than that?

Former WJLA and KPRC Promo pro ANDREA LAIGN has a cool new gig, and she got it from LinkedIn. So there she was on LI and a jobs ad was on the right hand column. Sounded kinda cool and one should always explore all possibility. In no time at all, she got the gig doing copy and creative for Keppler Speakers. No, they don’t make speakers that one uses to listen to things. Keppler books humans who speak at all kinds of appearances. Her official title is Marketing Copywriter/Web Content Manager. Very cool. Well Dunne! Ms. Andrea.

What a weekend. All kinds of firsts and life steps happening all around. It was a romantic one for KYLE KLEINECKE, who is the Creative Services Director at Nexstar’s KFDX in Wichita Falls, TX (shout out to Hollywood Reporter’s SUE RAYMER). Kyle popped The Question and is now an engaged man. He picked a most fabulous locale for the proposal…atop Dallas’ iconic Runion Tower at Wolfgang Puck’s Five Sixty.

It was an achieveing weekend for both SHELLY LESLIE and ANDREA LAIGN, who competed in athletic competitions in North Carolina and New Jersey respectively. Shelly heads up the creative efforts at legendary WRAL in NC’s capital and Andrea wrangles promoting news at WJLA in DC. These two are a-maz-ing. Well Dunne!

It’s now officially Fall with the syndicated shows kicking off. Children are back in school. Former WSOC GM (with a promo background) LEE ARMSTRONG reports a tinge of autumn in her mountain locale. Monday Night Football. Let’s roll up  our sleeves and focus on work. Jobs that I know to be open (things do change, so one better get a move on) are:  Marketing Manager at KVOA in Tucson,  CSD at KOIN in Portland, CSD at WKXT in Jacksonville, Director of Marketing at  KAAL in Austin, MN, CSD at KFSN in Fresno, Promotion Manager at WCAV in Charlottesville, VA, Marketing Director at WNCN in Raleigh, CSD at WISN in Milwaukee, Ass’t CSD at WDSU in New Orleans, and Promo Mgr in Omaha at KPTM.

Reding this Wednesday morning? On the West Coast? SoCal? Then pick up an issue of the LA TIMES and check out the business section – page 3. Yep,. that certainly does look like Well Dunne! Talent.

Despite all the snow that has piled up higher than rooftops (check out the shopping center parking lots if you think that’s an overstatement), our nation’s capital’s ABC affiliate WJLA is in for a treat. The return of uber super talented ANDREA LAIGN to the promotions department. Andrea had wandered into the freelance world when she turned in her WJLA key card, doing work for the National Education Association’s big hoo-ha headquarters. But she’s a TV news girl through and through. I bet Promo Manager BONNIE WOOD and News Director BILL LORD are smiling ear to ear. Andrea is bringing her awards with her and looking to do work that will garner more. Forgot to ask when Ms. Andrea gets her NEW keycard for entry…but it should be pretty soon. Well Dunne! Ms. Andrea.

LINDA BUTTON of Tooth + Nail has an interesting blog post in which she asks How are you using sound to change minds? Check it out
