There’s a marvelous San Antonio vibe going on in Seattle. Nothing to do with sports…it’s a TV thing. Eminates over at KIRO, where Sr. Producer LAUREL PORTIE, who worked in Texas’ River City at KABB’s operation under the wonderful AZALIA HOELTING, has welcomed GABRIEL LUNA to the great Northwest. He’ll be doing promos at the CBS Cox-owned station working with CSD SUSAN CONNOR.  Gabe’s a true born San Antonian (they used to have Native Texan license plates for those who hit the planet in Texas) who did promo at KABB and then was upped to do promos and Graphic Arts when Sinclair combined KABB with WOAI.  Word is he’s a filmmaker at heart and he and the lovely Mrs. Luna are snapping pix all over in their new city. Laurel and he will be on the hunt for a good Mexican food restaurant in the land of coffee and salmon. If you know of  one – share. Well Dunne! Gabe.

Have you ever been to San Antonio during the holiday season? It’s not the Currier & Ives winter scene so many of us associate with Christmas, but it’s the most lovely blend of historic and religious Mexican and Texan traditions. Their Riverwalk is all gorgeous lights and the La Posada reenactment in the King William district is moving and beautiful. All said to lay the groundwork for TERRY MCFARLANE’s return to Texas. Terry is headed to SA to be Creative Services Director for Sinclair San Antonio, which means NBC affil WOAI-TV, FOX affiliate KABB and CW affil KMYS. He’ll be taking leave of Palm Beach (just as The Season gets underway!) on this his second time as a Texan – he was CSD in Dallas-Ft. Worth at KTVT/CBS and KXAS/NBC. Other promo stops along the way for Terry include WISN Milwaukee, KLAS in Vegas and KTVX in Salt Lake City. Well Dunne! Terry.

Meanwhile, AZALIA HOELTING is starting up her own biz. She was CSD at KABB/KMYS and has a terrific background in marketing and special events honed at such locales as Dallas and Oklahoma City. So it makes perfect sense for her to get a special events concern going in a tourist and convention town! Yes, she’ll keep in touch with us. Can’t wait to hear great things. Well Dunne! Azaila.

Don’t you just love it when an up-and-coming creative takes the next step and calls all happy about a new slot? It’s great. So when LAUREL PORTIE shared that she has a fabulous new job and she starts the end of June, it was indeed a happy share. Ms. Laurel loves her old job, working with AZALIA HOELTING down San Antonio way for Fox affil KABB where she’s a writer producer and social media manager. She’ll miss the River Walk, the Texas music scene and Fiesta, but she’s very pumped to head to the Pacific Northwest where she’ll be Sr. Writer Producer for Seattle’s KIRO. THAT will be a fun road trip! She’s a Louisiana lady by birth and has worked for uber-creative DAVID HERSHEY at CBS’ KTVT in DFW. She’s also learned her craft at Greenville NC’s WNCT. Best yet, she’s going to work for SUSAN CONNOR who is heading up the KIRO creative team. Very Well Dunne! Laurel.

Bright and early Monday (or today if you are reading this June 3), WADE CAPPS starts his first day in charge of his own creative department. All riiiiiight.  And to add icing to the cake, it’s in gorgeous Corpus Christi, a Gulf of Mexico market that has great beaches and super seafood. Wade is now the Marketing Director at KRIS Communications, which is the overall company for NBC affil KRIS and CBS affil KZTV. A Texas Longhorn who has been lucky enogh to have, to date, spent his career in The Lone Star State, he started out interning at the PBS outlet in Austin. Wade’s first paid gig was down in Laredo at CBS affil KVTV and from there he took I-35 north to San Antonio where he was AZALIA HOELTING’s Sr. Promo Producer at Sinclair’s KABB/KMYS, Fox and MyTV affils. A big Texas Well Dunne! Wade.

Well Dunne Talent’s NICK SANABRIA got a major kick out of the new book written by Richard Castle. What you say…that’s a fictional character? Indeed. And the book, actually there’s a whole series of them, is a cross media promotion…a real book written by a fictional character. Give that marketing person an award of some sort.

Better late than never…that’s the theme for lovely LAUREL DAGGER, who traded Texas cities. It’s a big state…some things do get overlooked accidently. Ms. Laurel took I-35 south from her writer producer slot at CBS’ KTVT in DFW and is happily doing her creative thing at Sinclair’s duop, KABB and KMYS, in the Alamo City –  San Antonio. She misses CSD DAVID HERSHEY at KTVT but she’s happy to be teamed up once again with a former promo pal, AZALIA HOELTING, who is now CSD at her new stations. Laurel, a Louisiana native, is going to have the pleasure of the most touching holiday event when La Posada is reenacted along the Riverwalk in her new city. And even though the stations are on the Loop and not downtown, I know she’ll find her way there as well as to the bunuelos factory. Lovely time to be in SA. Well Dunne! Laurel.

Before she redirected her professional life away from TV promotion, JILLIAN KUHN had fun doing creative for NBC in Raleigh as well as FOX in Memphis. Well the lovely Jillian added a new chapter to her life and is now Jillian Kuhn Warren, with a Mrs. in that title. May you have happiness every single day, Jillian.
