A sad and somber weekend. In New Orleans, the news is about a creative: WDSU TV’s CSD BILLY PILGRIM passed away on Friday. Billy was always enthusiastic, always excited about the work he did…always excited about the people he worked with. He loved New Orleans, and he seemed so happy when he talked about it. He was a southerner, a creative, loved by many both inside and outside Hearst. Billy graduated from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama and spent ten years working in video production including for his own company, appropriately named Billy Pilgrim Productions. He became CSD at WAKA in Montgomery and joined WDSU in 2007 as Promotions Manager. He was named CSD in June of 2010. He will be missed.
This eloquent note is what the WDSU General Manager sent out:
It is with a very heavy heart that I must inform you that we have lost our colleague and friend, Billy Pilgrim. Billy passed away last night following surgery. It has been our great fortune to have had Billy on our team the past nine years. Whether it was a news image campaign, working through a hurricane, or a big Saints on Six campaign, our station has been the beneficiary of his extraordinary talents. We always knew his work would be the very, very best. And, it was. His impact is indelible. For that, his gentle soul and friendship, I will always be grateful that he came into my life and walked the halls of our station. Please keep his family in your thoughts.
Former FOX 29 Philadelphia intern PATIENCE CARTER was shot in the carnage in Orlando on the weekend. All prayers welcome.
