BOB ST CHARLES is a cool boss, super creative and a patient man. He’s the CSD at Tribune’s WXIN/WTTV combo in Indianapolis. That’s FOX and CBS. He’s been searching for the perfect Promotion Manager for the FOX side, WXIN…and he’s finally found her. AMY PRIBYL starts September 14. She’s coming to Indy from Vegas, where she was Senior Promo Marketing Director at Scripps’ KTNV working with JIM KOONCE. Her Indy job will be the first time she’s worked east of the Mississippi. The University of Montana grad started her TV career at Kansas City’s KSHB before moving to Portland (Oregon of course, not Maine) and doing promo producing at KGW. From there she moved north to KIRO in Seattle where she was Sr. Promo Producer. Her new office will find her sitting across from CBS4 Promo Manager KATIE WARTHAN. A big Well Dunne! to the Indy crew and welcome to Amy.

Another TV creative is doing the right thing (thanks Spike Lee)… Family is the first priority for many, and for WAHEED ALQUWASMI, it’s everything. He’s going to take care of a family member, and so he’s resigned from his slot as CSD at Memphis’ FOX affil WHBQ. If you’re reading this on Feb 27, that’s his last day. He’ll be available for freelance in a bit, and I want you all to know how talented he is and put him on the top of your radar. Well Dunne! Waheed.

Those in the Phoenix area (not chasing llamas) should know that Saturday is America Loves Bacon Festival in Chandler. Valley of the Sun’s own KEVIN GASSMAN (and Well Dunne! Talent) was kind enough to point this out, and he might be going. You can spot him – he is a dead ringer for the actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Well Dunne!

With the changes happening in the Indianapolis market, there’s bound to be some marketing announcements. And so there is. Let’s tip our hat to the new Promotion Manager at FOX WXIN, part of the Tribune operation in the city known for the race. Kudos to Ms. KATIE WARTHAN who has heretofore been a writer producer.  She’s an asset to CSD BOB ST CHARLES. Katie is a Ball State grad who has handled promos at WTVW in Evansville as well as Albuquerque’s KOB. She knows the Indy market, having been at WISH as Sr. Promo Producer. They’ve got their hands full with an affiliate switch, but not so busy that a Well Dunne! to Katie is out of the picture. So, Well Dunne! Katie!

It’s only four blocks, but it’s a new office, new station, new job for ALLAN SNYDER down in Little Rock. He’s been tapped to be the Promotions and Marketing Director of KATV, ABC in Arkansas’ capital. Which is just about four blocks from his former job, CSD at NBC affil KARK. Wait all weekend but you can do it. So let’s applaud Mitch and admit this is a not too subtle commercial for Mitch’s deep booming voice. Well Dunne! Mr. P.

Building a brand starting with the foundation…it’s a challenge and it’s exciting – and it’s exactly what BOB ST. CHARLES is doing in Indianapolis, where he has hit the ground running (he says a treadmill at 100 mph) as CSD at WXIN, the Tribune station slated to be a CBS affil. He’s been consulting for the last year or so (WJLA in DC is one such station) as CEO of Saint Marketing. Bob knows a thing or two about brand building from his time at Cox’s WFTV in Orlando where he headed promotions, marketing and all that. Atlanta’s WSB and Jacksonville’s WTLV all benefitted from his writing and producing and marketing talents. A grad of Ohio U, he’s been a volunteer golf coach for Special Olympics in Seminole County. That is so sweet. Big Well Dunne! going out, Bob!

Heading north out of Miami (which is geographically the easiest route) is ROBIN GEDDIE, the new Executive Producer of Promotions at Cox’s WFTV in Orlando. Robin’s been Sr. Creative Producer at Sunbeam’s WSVN in South Florida. The San Antonio-born Robin has gotten to live in places where the snowfall is pretty much non-existent, the lucky girl. After being a military brat and living in Texas, she then lived in Atlanta and graduated from the University of Georgia. Robin worked at WHDH in Boston as well. She sounds like a doll. And I know she’ll love working with CSD BOB ST. CHARLES beginning October 1. Well Dunne! Robin.

AFTER READING, call Well Dunne! Talent for a new voice (shameless plug alert) since all those changes need to be considered in your sound.

Think About This:  "We each have the choice in any setting to step back and let go of the mind-set of scarcity. Once we let go of scarcity, we discover the surprising truth of sufficiency. By sufficiency, I don’t mean a quantity of anything. Sufficiency isn’t two steps up from poverty or one step short of abundance. It isn’t a measure of barely enough or more than enough. One of the most tell tale signs of a St. Louis upbringing is the need to ask what high school other St. Louisans went to. No reason for this, but it is a definite tell. So when CSD DAN MCGRANE let me know he was hiring a St. Louis man for the creative services writer producer at KYTV (known as KY3) down Highway 40 in Springfield, the ‘what high school’ gene popped up. So, let’s hear it for SPENCER ERNST, a graduate of Lindburgh High. Sure, sure…he has done much more than grab a sheepskin during his time as a Flyer. He produced his own entertainment news show, which landed him to NSPA Pacemaker Finalist awards. The next thing, he’s in Mizzou’s famous J-school. He’s been at Belo’s KMOV in St. Louis learning the biz and cheering on the Cardinals. Spencer’s going to be a major asset to Dan’s creative gang. Well Dunne! Spencer.

A Well Dunne! is going out to NANCY MAZZEI, the new VP/Design at The Weather Channel Companies. Yes, most of us call it The Weather Channel, but there’s a lot more to it than that. Anyway, Nancy is making the switch from being part of the branding agency Most & Co. Art runs in her blood is seems…she has a degree from NY’s The School of the Visual Arts and has worked with VH1, Showtime, Time Warner Cable, and Pittard Sullivan. Great to hear, Nancy. And yes, she’s in usually temperate Atlanta.

Job Alert: BOB ST. CHARLES is on the hunt for a Promotion Manager at Cox down in Orlando. Details on their website. Look out your office window (if you have one) and ask yourself if Florida doesn’t seem like a great idea….

Magid just released a study stating that viewers like the ads within local TV news. Read about the study done for Hearst in their TV markets.

It’s a promotion and it’s a VERY long distance and it’s exciting and….it’s ERIN MARTIN’S news. She’s trading her title of Promotion Manager at WFTV and WRDQ in Orlando for a promotion to Seattle’s KIRO, where she’ll be Promotion Manager at this CBS affil. It’s all a Cox family move…all stations are owned by them. Ms. Martin is going 2,550 miles across America after 7 years in O-town. The Detroit native is going to fly, along with her dog and cat, for an Oct 25 start date. She’ll be working under CSD MATT LAWS and is thrilled to be joining a great team. She’ll be greatly missed by her Orlando CSD BOB ST CHARLES, but he’s thrilled for her. Besides the extra work in November, Erin is looking forward to exploring the Great Northwest and the gorgeous city, including the local wineries. Note to  Seattle – play up the winery angle in addition to the ownership you have on the coffee situation. Congratulations and Well Dunne! Erin.

Yes, that means there’s an exciting opening in Orlando!

Welcome to Well Dunne! Talent goes out to BILL HARWELL, who calls Austin home. Bill has that friendly ‘guy next door” sound, and he delivers projects so fast, you won’t believe that in real life, he’s a laid back pro. Give Bill a listen and remember him when you need that perfect voice for a project.

Are you keeping up with the fabulous streaming video that NATPE is doing? I was blown away when I “attended” a panel discussion called Stop Whining and Sell Your Show. I was one of 31,000, btw. Now I’m totally hooked on NATPE’s offerings. Next up is a Sept 24 session called Building the World — Multiplatform and Transmedia Storytelling. Check out details here.

Think About This: “If love is an action, how do you express self-love? Self-love starts with having the courage to be who you are, regardless of what others might think. It is about having the courage to live your dreams, to do what makes you happy in life, so that one day you won’t wake up saying, "I wish I had." Self-love is about self-care, making your health a priority. Self-love is revealed in your willingness to stay focused on the things you say are important. It’s about having the courage to set boundaries and protect them.” ~ Francine Ward

Talk about a great moment. Picture this: LAUREN RIDGLEY is on vacation in Italy. Sure, that’s a great moment, but that’s not THE great moment in question. OK, on vacation in Italy and the phone rings. It’s the states. It’s a company you had interviewed with and want to work for. So there you are on vacation in Italy and the company you want to work for calls and hires you. Wahoo! That’s the moment we’re talking about and now Lauren is on her way to be Creative Services Director at Hearst’s WISN in Milwaukee. Come October 2, she’ll be checking out the colorful foliage in Wisconsin after watching the leaves turn in Denver, where she’s been Promotion Manager for CBS’ KCNC. The Oregon native is no stranger to Cream City (that’s its nickname) – her brother in law is from there and Ms. Lauren has spent time there and has friends already in place. A football fan, she even has the perquisite green and yellow wardrobe that the Green Bay Packers sport, since that’s the color combo of her alma mater Oregon Ducks. A great big Well Dunne! Lauren.

And yes, her slot is open in Denver, for all you Broncos and ski fans.  And yes, she is looking for a writer producer at WISN.

Speaking of open slots, CSD BOB ST CHARLES sent this along from Orlando. Consider it a really great Job Alert! But do NOT call Bob. WFTV Channel 9 and WRDQ TV 27 are looking for a Promotion Manager that has the talent and ability to win.  We need someone that knows their way around a great image spot; can choose the perfect words for sweeps promos; ask a reporter the right questions for a perfect topical angle and, under the leadership of the Creative Services Director, run the day-to-day operation of a motivated department.
