Saying nice things about BRIAN BLUM isn’t just easy – it’s a treat. Prepare yourselves, since Brian is the focus of today’s WDTB (which would make great call letters, in case that ever comes up…). Mr. B, who is VP of Creative Services at Fox’s NYC operation, aka WNYW, is going to retiring and moving back to his west coast digs, which is where his family has been calling home for quite some time. Brian has been with Foxny for the last 10 years and was with CBS’ KPIX in San Francisco before that. Just like a Cosmo article, he and his wife did a bi-coastal marriage, which is a feat unto itself. Come the end of this month, he’ll be in the same zip code nightly and enjoying the best weather in the country. The timing is perfect – he’s already closed on his NY condo so the signs all point to “right track”. His stellar career path included getting his foot in as producer at WBBM in Chicago, then going on to be Promo Manager at Philly’s WCAU and Director of Marketing and Program Development at Miami’s WFOR. Brian is the go-to guy for marketing direction and, despite the fact we know he’ll be very very happy, he will be missed. BTW, Brian was the very first person to sign up to get the WDTB and he will forever be a favorite of mine! A huge Well Dunne! Brian.
Ending the summer in a totally fabulous way – marketing guru BILL HARTNETT. He and his lovely wife have welcomed a new little one into the world. Kudos for those who didn’t think let alone utter ‘now that’s taking labor day literally’.
Well, fall is really here. They’re serving Pumpkin Latte’s at Starbucks and there’s a few Christmas things for sale on shelves in between all the Halloween candy.
A sweet and happy Hebrew New Year 5774.

No matter how far he roamed, New Orleans is home, and JOSH MEZA is one happy man. Not just because he’s enjoying the place of his birth, but because he has a new job – he’s the newly named Creative Services Director at WWL, the heritage CBS affil in the Crescent City. He had been Promo Manager there after spending three years up in New York working with BRIAN BLUM at FOX. He’s also worked in Jackson, Mississippi. Great to hear of your new slot, Josh. Well Dunne!
Job Alert – Graphic Artist for the Scripps Graphics Hub down in Tampa

Let’s hope MICHAEL O’TOOLE is all rested…cause he’s headed to the city that never sleeps. Yep, Michael is the newest member of the creative team at New York’s FOX operation. VP BRIAN BLUM shared the news. O’Toole (love that Irish name!) is driving up I-95 from his old slot as VP of Creative Services at WUTB, the MyTV station in Charm City. He did a terrific job, sometimes doing it all himself. Michael and Brian worked together in the past at San Diego’s KUSI, and also they worked together promoting WUTB from the Secaucus location…so this new teaming will be particularly fun. The multi-talented Michael has a degree in Broadcast Management from USC, and has done creative marketing for Cox Communiations in LA. Well Dunne! Michael.
Guess who is STILL doing double duty, both her Promo Manager job AND doing nighttime topicals? WTAE’s TRACY OLIVER. If you’re a writer producer and want to work in a fab market for a great ownership group…send your info to WTAE. Tracy won’t have the time to read it, but CSD ED EVEREST will – much to Tracy’s delight.

This tendency is the cause of most of our world conflict and most of man’s inner conflicts, which cause most of his physical ills.” ~ Eric Butterworth
Who doesn’t love Orlando and all the fun magic you can experience thanks to Mickey and Universal? Obviously, CRAIG FLEMING’s family had a great time. And now they’ll be able to repeat more of the same when they settle into central Florida. Craig has taken the slot of Promotion Manager at Cox’s ABC affil WFTV and Indie WRDQ. He starts May 9th, and is leaving behind his slot at FOX NYC where he’s been doing great marketing for uber-creative CSD BRIAN BLUM. Craig is an Indiana State grad who has worked doing promos for Comcast and CN8. He started off at KDKA. The Flemings have family and friends in Florida so the whole brood is happy and excited. Craig is going to be working with wonderful CSD BOB ST CHARLES. Well Dunne! Craig.

Summer’s over (deep sigh) and it’s time to roll up our sleeves to get some work done.
Out in Albuquerque, CSD TONY REED at Hearst’s ABC affil KOAT is welcoming an Assistant Creative Services Director aboard. DOUG DONAHOO will be heading west from his current slot in Kansas City at Meredith’s KCTV where he’s been writing and producing. The Kansas boy will love the Southwest. And he’ll arrive just in time for the breathtaking Balloon Fiesta. KOAT has an excellent view of the festivities from their parking lot, btw, so Doug will knew he’s not in Kansas anymore. Well Dunne! Doug.
The lure of New Orleans is proving too much for JOSH MEZA, who’s going to return to WWL as Promo Manager. The LSU grad worked at Belo’s CBS affiliate in The Crescent City before getting tapped by BRIAN BLUM in market #1. Josh has been writing and producing for FOX’s NYC flagship for the past three years. Brian hates to see him go, but shares that it’s a well deserved move for Josh and will reunite him with Cajun cooking. Cajun is one of the few cuisines that New York can’t really top. Well Dunne! Josh.
And that means Brian is going to need a replacement. So Job Alert! – top notch writer producer needed at WNYW.
Another one. Job Alert: Freelance Creative Director for Telepictures out in Burbank.
