St. Louis is a city of neighborhoods, each with a distinctive characteristic. The Hill is where the Italians settled, and it’s where you have a profusion of the best Italian food this side of Rome (and that includes New York…sorry Big Apple, but you don’t own that category) It’s the kind of neighborhood where you walk to the park, grab a cup of coffee (and a cannoli) and know your neighbors as well as their dogs. It’s where BRIAN SPENCER lives. Brian is a St. Louis guy by birth, having grown up not too far from The Hill in Dogtown, where the Irish settled.  Brian has been happy with his life, and now has an added plus to add to his list: Promotion Manager for CBS affil KMOV. He had been a creative writer producer, but got tapped with the new title by CSD TONY GETTS. Brian has quite the pedigree in the biz: KSDK and WRAL. And he has quite the office view: the Old Cathedral, the south leg of the Gateway Arch and the mighty Mississippi. Ahhh…it’s sublime. A big St. Louis Well Dunne! Brian.

Job Alert – Creative Services Producer/Editor WBFF Baltimore (Pete Ferraro is the best!)

Think About This: “Don’t die with your music still inside you. Listen to your intuitive inner voice and find what passion stirs your soul. Listen to that inner voice, and don’t get to the end of your life and say, ‘What if my whole life has been wrong?”  ~ Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

It took a long time, but CSD SHELLY LESLIE at Raleigh’s WRAL has finally found her Senior Writer Producer and he’s very, very talented. And from St. Louis and a Cardinals fan. Downright perfect. BRIAN SPENCER begins next week. He’s been at KSDK in St. Louis honing his creative juices for the last 8 years, and he knows how to do Topicals as only one who has spent time in a newsroom can boast. The Lindenwood grad (he went to CBC High School…always an important thing for St. Louis people to know) has outside TV interests as well…he’s the President of the St. Louis Hurling Club. No, not THAT kind of hurling – it’s Gaelic football. He’s going to love Raleigh and I predict an insurgence of hurling in the NC capital. Well Dunne! Brian.

You have until November 15 to come up with a new Simpson’s couch gag. Come on people – you are the most creative of all, so go for it and submit your ideas here. Marge, Homer, Bart, Lisa and Maggie will be at your command.

Think About This:  “The next time you find yourself stuck in a long line at an ATM machine, traffic jam, or supermarket checkout counter, resist your urge to react. Do not get frustrated. Do not become impatient. Do not get angry. The line is there to test you, and to give you an opportunity not to react. But if you do react, the situation controls you. The situation becomes the cause and you the effect.”  ~ Yehuda Berg
