So many people written about here on the Well Dunne! blog are Promo Cowboys, the name BARRY FITZSIMMONS tabbed for creatives who switch markets in order to spin their marketing magic.  Every now and then, there’s a very notable exception to that rule. Someone who grabs the golden ring and finds a great job with the right people; matching ideas about how business should be. One of those golden ring people is SHELLY SMITH LESLIE, who, come this June 2, will celebrate 30 years with Capital Broadcasting Company, the owners of WRAL in Raleigh. For the last 25 years, Shelly has been part and then leader of the people who make WRAL one of the most successful stations in the country – the marketing folks. And now, in honor of the success and longevity Shelly has achieved, she will be stepping up to a new title and new duties – General Manager of Audience Development. It’s a new division for Capital, one in which Shelly will be identifying  new audiences for new platforms, expanding their video digital footprint and, of course, putting some green in the bank. VERY exciting. I talk to nearly everybody over the course of a year, and Shelly has the unique distinction of being the happiest person in the biz. The first time we talked, that’s the impression she left…lucky and a lady who, indeed, got the gold ring. It’s been a very good couple of months for the avid bicycler. This is the cherry on the whipped cream on the cupcake called Capital. The biggest Well Dunne! coming to you Shelly.

Job Alert – Creative Services Director WRAL Raleigh

(Note: Shelly birthed this baby 25 years ago, so anybody applying better be ready to be The Best)

Think About This: “I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?” And whenever the answer has been “No” for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.”  ~  Steve Jobs
