Got stellar news about CHAD MALLAM. Really stellar. Mr. Chad has launched the Space Channel LLC. We turn the pixels over to Mr. C: The first non-linear television network dedicated to Space with a unique programming line up that covers every aspect of the industry. From news to movies, web content, live event coverage and eventually a network of cameras streaming live, real time HD footage from interplanetary space. Giving viewers an unprecedented look at the cosmos and our home planet from any device, anywhere in the world. Chad knows a thing or two about getting eyeballs…he was most recently VP of On-Air at GSN. He honed his chops at such great operations as KPIX in San Fran, NBC Universal, WGCL in Atlanta and ABC Entertainment. At heart, he’s quite the artist who not only paints eye-popping canvases today, but has been an Animation Assistant at the Cartoon Network. Chad will help us all see more stars and open the universe’s marvels. Well Dunne! Mr Mallam. Regards to Boots.

Talk about community service. Let’s hear it for TIM SANDERS in Terre Haute, who was elected an Alderman in Marshall, Indiana on Tuesday. Enthusiastic and smart as a whip, not to mention creative, Marshall is one lucky town. By day, Tim’s Promotion Director of WTWO/WAWV in the Wabash Valley. Well Dunne! Tim.

Former promo pro KYLE KLEINECKE is not letting any creative grass grow under his feet. Mr. K has a fab short film on the burner and here’s your chance to support the arts. Visit this site and spend a few bucks to help get the project up and running. Go on….any little bit helps. And visit his facebook page to give it your thumbs up. Love the title…The Pickle Film or something equally tasty. Well Dunne! Kyle.

If you don’t know the work of STAN FREBERG, and are in the marketing/ad world, well, now is the perfect time to get with it and discover what a genius he was. The man was a writer, a voice, an ad man, a comedian…the list goes on…and was a puppeteer. His work is as fresh today as it was 50, 40, 30 years ago. He passed away earlier this week making the world a much more somber place .

DIANE HERZOG is headed to GSN which means she’s going to be closer to the beach, GSN being in Santa Monica and all. Besides the ocean proximity, she’s also getting herself a VP title. All right! Diane’s been Director of Publicity over in Burbank at Turner, handling TNT, TS and TCM. She’s been a VP of Pulicity for NBCU, back when it was just plain ol’ NBC. The lovely Ms.  Herzog proudly talks of the 5 years she took being a full time mom. Good for her. A big Well Dunne! Diane. Say hi to CHAD MALLAM and ask to see his new painting.

The reason there’s an opening for a Promotion Director at Colorado Springs’ KRDO is because MIKE JACKSON has retired. And from the sounds and looks of it, he’s having a blast. Just say the word ‘golf’ and you can get the picture. Mike spent some great promo manager time at Spokane’s KHQ and Denver’s KCNC. Well Dunne! and here’s to a great retirement, Mike.

Heading to PROMAX? If you’re headed to the LA Conference, then take a good look at the picture…that’s CHAD MALLAM, who is VP of On-Air at GSN. He’s also going to be weighing in for Well Dunne! blog. So if he points his iPhone at you, smile. If you’re headed to the Station Summit, well, there’s more info to come, so stay tuned!

What is CHAD MALLAM up to these days? I’m so glad you asked. The Texas Aggie (meaning he went to A&M for those of you who aren’t Texas savvy) has been named Vice President of On-Air for GSN, which used to be called the Game Show Network. Chad is now officing in  beautiful Santa Monica, having made the switch from Burbank where he was writing, producing, editing and directing for ABC Network Entertainment. He did some super LOST stuff…he’ll have to share with you. Chad began his TV career at The Cartoon Network as an Assistant Animator before heading to CBS’s WGCL in Atlanta where he really got into the promo mode. He went west to San Francisco’s WPIX where he was Sr. Writer Producer. He made the leap to LA working as a Predator at the many networks of NBC U. If his life is a game show, then he’s a big bonus winner. Well Dunne! Chad.

OMG, who came up with the WWE Summer Slam spot? Looking and sounding like a real weather alert, I can’t imagine what the thinking was that approved this concept in times where the weather is causing such honestly alarming problems.

Why is there an opening for a CSD in Portland Maine at the Hearst ABC affiliate? Sadly, MARK BRADLEY is leaving. Sadly because he’s one of the good guys, and also because he didn’t plan on leaving. But when life/fate/the universe puts a perfect opportunity right in front of you, ya gotta go for it. Mark is going to head back to Charleston, SC and take a teaching slot there at a local institution of higher learning. His last day is the 12th and he starts the new job the 15th. Will that be enough time to sew patches on the elbows of his cardigan? He seems VERY happy and in today’s job market, that makes him top of the heap.  In turn, we are happy for you, Mark. Well Dunne!

And yes, that means the CSD slot is open there. As a matter of fact, so is a writer producer slot.

CHAD MALLAM is hard at work untangling the in’s and out’s of the ABC series LOST. His Untangling Lost is an internet series and it’s now starring a Muppet character you gotta love. Tune in to hear Chad talk about promoting with puppets on MITCH PHILLIPS radio show Friday  9 –10 in the AM Eastern. Well Dunne! Chad.

Planning on entering the PROMAX Awards competition? Good news – if you get the entry in before Feb 16, you save $50 per entry. Not too shabby.

Comcast is rebranding itself. What do you think of the choice they made: Xfinity.

Super Bowl spots. Year after year, I hope to see concepts and executions that make one fall in love with advertising. Will this year’s crop have such standouts? Don’t forget Well Dunne! is living blogging via Twitter during the game and then will have promo pro’s choices for the spots that stood out as our Monday Quarterback edition.
