Take care with the storm. Who knows how long the power outage will be, or if the Internet will keep up with it all. Just stay safe.

Back Home Again In Indiana…that’s such a pretty song. It’s also kind of what JERRY GRIDER is doing. Let me turn this over to SCOTT HAINEY, the Director of Promotion and Creative Services at Indianapolis’ WISH TV: Jerry Grider joins our creative services team as our new promotion manager. Jerry comes to us from our LIN station, WANE in Fort Wayne, where he has worked for the past 16 years. During his 12 years as their promotion manager, Jerry has been an integral part of the team that led WANE to its success as the dominant station in the market. His creative work has been honored with numerous PROMAX, Advertising Federation and IBA awards. A native of Indianapolis, Jerry graduated from Pike High School and went on to receive degrees from Berkley College and Marion College here in Indianapolis. A huge Indy car and NASCAR fan, he is excited to be returning home to Indy with his wife and three children. Well Dunne! Jerry and thanks so much Scott!
Kudos to CHRIS WOLF of WJZY/WMYT in Charlotte. He’s a music man…the one who guessed which Train song was playing for KRISTEN JOYAL’s proposal moment. Well Dunne! Chris.

Think About This: “A true revolution of values will soon cause us to question the fairness and justice of many of our past and present policies. True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar; it is not haphazard and superficial. It comes to see that an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring. A true revolution of values will soon look easily on the glaring contrast of poverty and wealth.” ~ Martin Luther King
Despite the story on MSNBC this AM about the folks who believe the end of the world will be upon us sometime in May (Whatever) , this is a glorious day to begin the “get back to work” energy. Things are looking and feeling better, so let’s kick it into full gear.
Charlotte, NC is where Capital Broadcasting has a duopoly in WJZY/WMYT, the CW and MyTV affils respectively. Capital, the owners of legendary WRAL in Raleigh, are probably the best ownership group around. So when the need for a marketing pro with tons of programming experience specific to their nets came up, there was really only one guy around who fit that bill. CHRIS WOLF is now in the Queen City (Charlotte’s nom de municipality) and learning his way around the town. The old joke is that you’re finally a Charlottean when you can figure out the spider web system of roads, notorious for changing names for no logical reason whatsoever. Until then, your GPS is your best pal. Well Dunne! Chris.
Just what does it mean to be influential now?
Know what history sniffing is? It has NOTHING to do with the History Channel, but with marketing.
Think About This: "Be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. Talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet. Make all your friends feel there is something in them. Look at the sunny side of everything. Think only of the best, work only for the best, and expect only the best. Be as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your won. Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. Give everyone a smile. Spend so much time improving yourself that you have no time left to criticize others. Be too big for worry and too noble for anger." ~ Christian D. Larson
CHRIS WOLF is one of those people who loves TV. The kind of person you can talk TV to for hours and not realize time flies by. Now, Chris has a new slot as the CSD for heritage station WIS TV in Columbia, SC. The NBC affil is owned by Raycom. For the past five years, Chris has served as Regional Director of Programming and Creative Services for CBS Television Stations Group’s WGNT-Norfolk, WTOG-Tampa, and WUPA-Atlanta. Prior to his Norfolk experience, Chris held Creative Service Director titles at KYW and WTXF in Philadelphia from 1996 to 2004. Earlier in his career, Chris headed up programming, operations, and promotion for stations WKCF and WOFL in Orlando and KDAF in Dallas. A Florida boy who was instrumental in signing on the aforementioned WOFL, FOX in Orlando, Chris’ roots are in the radio business. He was on the air in the Orlando market before making the switch to TV. A big Well Dunne! to you Chris. See you in a few weeks.
Lift your glasses for the newly married GLEN RAINEY. He’s honeymooning at the moment, taking time away from ABC affil WTXL in Tallahassee. FL where he’s the CSD. Well Dunne! Mr. And Mrs. Rainey.

ANDREA CHING has a promotion to celebrate. She is now SVP/Marketing and Promotions with Turner/SI Digital, which means she added the S to SVP. She’s a Brown grad who has worked at Turner and was Managing Director at Neo@Ogilvy, Ogilvy’s digital media unit. It’s a NYC based gig and to her we say Well Dunne!
Perhaps Andrea would want to celebrate with a special only-this-weekend offering at Tillman’s Roadhouse in Dallas, where the speciality du maison will be The Bacon Rice Krispies Treat Ice Cream Sandwich. Whoa.

How cool would it be to go to the PROMAX Creative Clinic in Buenos Aires! Clínica Creativa de Latinoamérica is in October. I believe it’s the beginning of polo season in that part of the world, too.
CHRIS WOLF is looking for something that can put his creative and management skills to best advantage. He’s extremely talented and good with people to boot. So if you’re looking for someone to not wrangle but lead your promotions and marketing areas, give him a look. Yeah, all the details are available by just asking.
