A Christmas Story is set in northern Indiana, but in true Hollywood fashion, Ralphie’s house in the iconic holiday movie is actually on the west side of Cleveland. Perhaps TOM DUSKA will have time to drive by and see it when he isn’t doing his creative thing for Scripps’ ABC affil, WEWS. Tom is new to Cleveland – just finishing up his first week on the job as part of CSD DAN COYLE’s promo team. Tom’s official title is Multimedia Marketing Producer so he’ll be doing a lot of varied fun things with an emphasis on late news. He’s been working for WICU/WSEE, NBC and FOX in Erie, PA, handling technical and creative roles.  Originally a photojournalist, Tom later transitioned to graphic artist, eventually moved into promotions/production, and also worked as a technical director. Man does it all. I think it would be cool if he took a selfie at Ralphie’s – or took the whole promo team over there for a selfie…yeah? Yeah!  Well Dunne! Tom.

Have to share a gorgeous and touching holiday promo done up at Tegna’s Maine operation, Portland’s WCSH and Bangor’s WLBZ. By clicking here, you can see the spot conceived and written by MARK PARENT, Promo and Production Manager in Bangor, and edited by Creative Services Coordinator SAMANTHA HAMMOND. News Director MIKE REDDING was so moved by it, he posted it and said he was proud of a station that respects and welcomes all. MIKE MARSHALL, VP of Programming and Marketing at the stations is proud I know. Well Dunne! one and all.

Well Dunne! Talent’s KELLY PIDGEON is multi-talented. Besides his amazing voice, he’s a musician. Take a moment to listen to Boats Against The Current’s latest. (IQ points awarded if you know the name reference).

Sunday dinner with the family. It’s what so many of us do. Now, we can add JASON MATLOCK to the lengthy list of Family Sunday Dinner goers. Jason is moving back to his hometown, Cleveland, where he has relatives.  He’s already preparing for the extra five pounds such gatherings can add. And he’s smiling about it. He’s also smiling about his new job – he’s going to be Promotion Manager for Scripp’s ABC affiliate in Cleveland, WEWS. CSD DAN COYLE is  excited about finding Jason, who begins November 28. Mr. Matlock is going to be departing his slot doing promotions for Sinclair’s ABC WKEF in Dayton. Jason has also worked at WDTN. Big Well Dunne! to you Jason.

Job Alert – yep, Jason’s old job.

New to the Sundance Channel is MICHAEL LEHRER – and he’s got a new slot at the cable net. He’s been named VP of Strategic Marketing, which means he’s going to do it all at Sundance including short form development and production. Before Sundance, Michael was over at MTV as Senior Director of Integrated Marketing and Sponsorship Development. Yes, it’s all happening in New York.

Job Alert: The uber talented DAN COYLE up at WEWS in Cleveland has been given the greenlight to expand his department (rare in today’s TV world) and is adding a PROMOTION MANAGER slot. I know the HR folks want more details, but it’s just better to get hold of Dan and see what’s what.

NYTimes has a story on summertime promotion for cable shows.
