A Texas lady always feels at home and ready to take on the world no matter where she is. But when she’s in the South, it’s even better. Such is the case with MICHELLE BEECH who is a TCU grad (that’s Texas Christian in Fort Worth for you Google-shy folks). Michelle is now Creative Services Director in Spartanburg heading up the creative efforts of Media General’s WSPA and WYCW, the CBS and CW affiliates in Greenville-Spartanburg-Asheville market in the upstate of South Carolina and western North Carolina. Beautiful territory, and there’s a Pottery Barn outlet, too. Back to Michelle, who names America as her hometown, seeing as she was a military child and she moved all over. She has a most interesting background and was most recently at AR&D as Marketing Strategist and Station Marketing Consultant. She has led departments at KKCO and KKTV as well as produced promos for WJTV and WAPT. She’s a major win for WSPA…let’s all chime in and send her a big Well Dunne!

Speaking of Texas…down San Antonio way, Tuesday a very special little someone made his debut and the reviews are all raves! KENS CSD DON SMITH and his beautiful wife have a new baby boy who has a very adorable and proud big brother. Can’t wait to see more pictures…you should send Don a big congrats. No word on whether there are cigars on the horizon, but there is definitely a major spike in the cuteness factor in SA today.

Job AlertSr. Graphic Artist FOX TV LA (work with JEREMY CLAYPOOL – he’s an all-star)

Go west – it’s what’s happening for not one but two promo pros: First….There’s something about the Rocky Mountains of the American west. They’re gorgeous, rugged, vibrant and they forge the lifestyles of those living in and near them along their 3,000 mile range. When you’re too far away from them, you miss them. The mountains are luring back a Denver man who’s been doing TV marketing away from the peaks, and he’s going to be in one of the most gorgeous locales the Colorado Rockies have to offer. DAVID REEVE is headed back to Colorado, specifically Colorado Springs where he’ll be the new Marketing Director of KOAA, the NBC affiliate. He and the fam will be departing Tegna’s WFMY in the Greensboro/Winston-Salem market of North Carolina. Along the way, David has been Promotion Manager at WUSA in DC and Exec Producer for Denver’s KUSA. Yes, he’s got his snowboard all ready to hit the slopes. Well Dunne! David.

Second, there’s no question one leaves their heart in San Francisco. Its magic delights every sense. Heading to the City by the Bay is ERIK CANDIANI et famille where he’ll be taking over the VP Creative Services role at Fox’s KTVU in Oakland. Erik’s coming from Tegna’s NBC affil KARE in Minneapolis where he was VP Creative.. He’s comin’ home to Cali where the Candiani’s will be close to family. Erik has been with KOVR in Sacramento as well as in LA at KTLA plus a turn in Denver. Erik is mucho excited and predictions are for some cutting edge creative to hit SF after November 12. Big Well Dunne! Erik.

Do NOT miss tonight’s episode of The Goldbergs on ABC. Why? Well, it’s a super show and tonight’s episode has the wonderful AMY LEVY, of LA’s Amy Levy PR fame, as a trick or treater or something equally fun that shows off her mega-watt smile. Lady has the best smile around. And she has a great voice too.

Beautiful Downtown Burbank…any of you remember or have seen the Johnny Carson running gag about NBC’s location? Johnny would be amazed at how Burbank has come around. It’s quite the place to office, eat, shop and live. Home to all kinds of entertainment companies and studios, it’s also where ED TUDOR is heading and will be starting his new job September 14. He’s been tapped to be Director of Affiliate Marketing for ABC, which means he’ll be moving from the east coast all the way to the west. Ed is giving up his Director of Marketing and Programming job at WVEC in Norfolk, VA. The Florida gator has worked at some amazingly fab marketing shops, like WJXT in Jacksonville, KHOU in Houston and KARK in Little Rock. He’s multi-talented and this new gig is perfect for him. Well Dunne! Ed.

Is there any better place than Hawaii for people in love? No. This weekend, Hawaii was the site for the beautiful marriage of JEREMY CLAYPOOL, Promo Manager of Fox in LA, and his lovely bride LAUREN. They are the greatest couple! So much energy and so elegant. Hawaii also hosted Jeremy’s boss, JIM LADAS. No Keia La, No Keia Po, A Mau Loa.

LARRY WATZMAN who heads up creative at Atlanta’s WXIA  had a star-studded shoot last Friday. While taping LESTER HOLT of NBC Nightly News, who showed up but JEFF DANIELS, who plays main anchor Will McAvoy on HBO’s cable news operation series, The Newsroom. Well Dunne! Larry.

With the Fall Debuts in full swing, November in the planning stages and the end of the year approaching, not to mention budgeting and reforecasting, it’s the perfect time to think about a way to de-stress and get your mojo in line. JEREMY CLAYPOOL, Promotion Manager of Fox KTTV in LA, has a wonderful tactic that is definitely worth considering. After a hectic week (and you all have hectic weeks to say the least) Jeremy has a “no decision” Saturday.  Saturday morning arrives, and he just let’s the day unfold. No decisions..just watching the world unfold as it should. What with making decisions all week, this is totally refreshing. His lovely fiancé helps, so I’m sure he manages to not wear two kinds of plaids at one time. Also give a thought to Tech Free Saturday, when you do not look at your email or take phone calls. Just two affordable and fun ideas you might want to consider. Well Dunne! everybody.

LA is great but somebody please find a way to deal with the traffic going over into the valley. Oy!

Cutest ad in ages award goes to Miles the One-Eyed Bear and a read by William Shatner that is actually good . No really; he nails it. Definitely worth your time.

It’s about 100 miles from Hartford, CT to Boston…not all that far to drive. One can even commute, although I can’t imagine the traffic on the I-84 to I-90 trip. Whatever, the trip is the next step in LOWELL BRIGGS career when he decamps his slot as CSD at NBC’s WVIT in Hartford to take the VP of Creative Services slot at FOX’s WFXT in Bean Town. Lowell is bringing a fabulous background, including in-depth research and news experience, from such markets as Raleigh, Birmingham and Boston itself, where Mr. B once worked at New England Cable News. He’s even worked as a VJ at CNN and been on-air as a reporter. Very Cool. The Kenyan College grad must surely know his way around Boston and will be hitting the ground running first part of August. A hearty Well Dunne! Lowell.

KNBC’s JEREMY  CLAYPOOL has a blog you must be reading … check it out blog.jeremyclaypool.com

There must be something magical in the water cooler down at WOFL in Orlando. Having just bid adieu to JEREMY CLAYPOOL who was headed to KNBC in LA, they are again losing another talent to the LA market. This time, ROBERT RODRIGUEZ is making the move west down I-10 to work at LA’s FOX flagship, KTTV and KCOP. Title – Promotions Manager. Robert is leaving behind fave VP Creative Service CHRIS FRIEDRICHS and his WOFL Promotion Manager title. Robert is going to work with his past boss JIM LADAS, who directed the creative efforts at FOX in DC. With a degree from Florida Atlantic U, Robert started his TV career at WSVN in his hometown of Miami where his boss was….Jim Ladas. So obviously these two make beautiful promos together. First day on the job in LA will be November 7. Safe travels Robert and Well Dunne!

Job Alert – Yes, WOFL is in need of a Promotion Manager.

Headed west on the 10, coast to coast, is JEREMY CLAYPOOL, the new promo writer producer at KNBC in beautiful downtown Burbank. Mr. C is going to be working with the uber-talented TIM HOWICK who heads up the creative efforts of the Peacock in LA. Jeremy has a lot to do before he begins September 26, like move, go on a cruise, visit the fam, and buy a new car. Of course, the drive is going to be great, with stops planned in New Orleans, Phoenix and who knows where else. Fun! Jeremy is taking leave of his current slot at FOX’s WOFL in Orlando and hates to say goodbye to his boss, CHRIS FRIEDRICHS. But LA is calling. Jeremy has worked at KXAS in Dallas so his string of staying in snow-free climes continues. Well Dunne! Jeremy.

Speaking of LA…Job Alert – KCBS/KCAL is looking for a promo preditor focusing on news.

BILLY PITTARD has the most fab marketing blog. You must stop by and check it out.

Love love love Southwest Airlines, and always have. Read about their Random Acts of Coolness and then say “Brilliant”

Some things are just too weird to make up. The truth trumps creativity in this one. It’s the newest in iPad covers. The ones in question are made from, and I am not making this up, Bernie Madoff’s pants. The Ponzi Prince had all his clothes sold and, well, now they’re iPad covers. And they’re not cheap. At least none of the proceeds are going to that crook.

The Great Creator is an artist and he/she/it is an artist in partnership with other artists. The moment we open ourselves to making art, we simultaneously open ourselves to our maker. We are automatically partnered." ~ Julia Cameron
