JOE EARLEY did a bang-up wonderful job when he was with Fox Television Group, starting as a publicist, moving to President of Marketing and Communications before being tapped COO for FOX Television Group. Now he’s on the move again. After taking January off, he signed on as President of The Jackal Group, which is Gail Berman’s co-venture with Fox Network Group to produce all kinds of entertainment, from scripted to film to even theatre. Gail is a FOX alum herself – she was President of Entertainment at Fox. Whew. Fireworks will no doubt ensue. Well Dunne! Joe.

Condolences to WLS’ VP Creative Services and Local Programming CURTIS MILES, who lost his father suddenly over the weekend.

Think About This: “When I think of death, and of late the idea has come with alarming frequency, I seem at peace with the idea that a day will dawn when I will no longer be among those living in this valley of strange humors. I can accept the idea of my own demise, but I am unable to accept the death of anyone else. I find it impossible to let a friend or relative go into that country of no return. Disbelief becomes my close companion, and anger follows in its wake. I answer the heroic question ‘Death, where is thy sting?’ with ‘it is here in my heart and mind and memories.””  ~ Maya Angelou

That retirement thing is going around. KAY PONDER is the latest to decide to hang up the day to day and will be saying adios to her Assistant CSD slot at WABC. Perhaps she won’t miss commuting in the snow. She’s a southern girl, you know – a grad of Montgomery, Alabama’s Huntingdon College. She’ll be missed. But Well Dunne! on the next chapter, Key.

Confetti and streamers being thrown to congratulate NBC’s SCOTT CHASTAIN who was just named co-chair of the PROMAXbda Board of Directors. Scott is SVP of affiliate marketing and development at the peacock net. And he’s a super guy as well. He’ll be sharing the chairing with Fox’s JOE EARLEY. That’s a dynamite combo. Well Dunne!

Heading to SXSW? Need a place to stay? Here’s your answer.

More great news for major marketing pros. On the heels of Vivi Zigler’s news of yesterday…today belongs to the EARLEY bird…JOE EARLEY that is. He’s just been named COO of Fox Broadcasting Company. He’s been wrangling the creative marketing and his title has been President of Marketing and Communications. This kick up the ladder could not happen to a more talented and deserving guy.  The UCLA grad honed his marketing and publicity chops at HBO before coming to Fox. A big Well Dunne! Joe.

Think About This:  "While we watch the storm clouds gather and prepare for the storm, let us never forget that the sun still shines behind those dark clouds, and may somehow break through before the storm descends. I see sunshine in the real desire for peace in the hearts of humanity, even though the human family gropes toward peace blindly, not knowing the way."  ~  Peace Pilgrim

Don’t you just love the way they answer the phone at Be The Creative Source?  Very empowering. And the good folks at the NY agency have tapped AARON KING as partner and executive producer. Aaron was recently Creative Director for Joyride Creative where he led  efforts for rebranding of H2, LMN for A&E as well as ESPN. Other career highlights include building PURE, a commercial vizefx and entertainment design concern, as their Executive Creative Director, Creative Director of Respect Design and he got his start working at Pittard/Sullivan. Aaron will be working with Be The Creative Source founder JEFF BORTZ. Well Dunne! Aaron.

Speaking of ……Well Dunne! to FOX’s JOE EARLEY for his new role as Co-Chair of the PROMAX Board of Directors.

Think About This: "If a so-called religion displays any form of hostility or division within Its own ranks or toward another religious faith, if it doesn’t generate Light and provide answers to our most challenging questions 100 percent of the time, then something is terribly amiss. Conflict, intolerance, and darkness cannot, by definition, exist in the presence of Light and true spirituality." ~ Yehuda Berg

It’s a promotion for the very popular JOE EARLEY over at FOX. He’s no longer EVP of Marketing and Communications. He’s President or Marketing for Fox Broadcasting. Yeah, that’s a great title! The UCLA grad and his team are responsible for some of the best promo work on the tube in the last few years. Well Dunne! Joe.

Kudos on PAUL MCGUIRE’s new title – senior vp worldwide corporate communications at Warner Bros. Entertainment.

Moving to the  future next level is NBC News, where they are officially combining PR, promotion and marketing into one unit. Named to head the blend is vet LAUREN KAPP. The Univ of Arizona grad has also worked at ABC News. The new unit will be called NBC News Marketing and Communication.  This on the heels of NBC naming RYAN  OSBORN their first Director of Social Media. PBS did a whole story on that. Well Dunne! you two.

For you PROMAX attendees – keep an eye out for BONNIE BARCLAY, who will be at the Chyron booth on the convention floor. It’s part of her new job. VERY exciting.

LA Times has an interesting story on branding and how powerful it is, in particular for cable nets. Well, no offense, but duh. Click here anyway.

Love the concept of the new talk show that’s getting some buzz. It’s four leading chefs sitting about and talking food. Yeah, I know there’s probably a lot more to it, but the basic is so tempting. Via ITV, the folks who are producing.
