The best, most enduring productions aren’t going to gain you ratings. They’ll gain you diapers, 2am feedings and years of PTA duties. And more love than you ever thought possible. Of course, you also get a new title with these special productions: Mom or Dad. Or even Mimi or PawPaw – very creative options for names today. A special production was just recently completed by KARA MCNEELY, VP of Creative Services and Programming for KABC in LA. She welcomed a second little one into her family, and that is exactly like the fabled ‘happy endings’ of a Disney movie. Well Dunne! Kara and family.

If you’re wandering the casino aisles in Vegas, hoping the slots will be as hot as the temps outside, keep an eye out for SYDNEY RUBIN, TERRY KOWALSKI and KAREN YARBROUGH…they’re Well Dunne! stringers and all round fun people to boot. Cause today, with the world technology what it is, nothing that happens in Vegas is guaranteed to stay in Vegas. Hey-ooo.

Summer isn’t over, people.  The days do grow shorter and people are focusing more on their jobs than in the last three months. You’ll find offices aren’t emptying out Friday afternoons now. But summer isn’t over. Keep enjoying that summer excitement.

Things get so accelerated right before a holiday. Like KARA MCNEELY getting her well-deserved promotion to the head marketing slot at KABC in LaLa Land. The Huntington, Indiana lady came west after her first jobs in TV in the Midwest – at WCPO in Minneapolis and then two stations in Indianapolis, WISH and WXIN, where she had her first management slot. From there she went to Granite and overall Creative Services Managing Director then on to Miami where she head up Brand and Marketing. We said it before, but here it is again…Well Dunne!

Do they still make chocolate cigars? If so, TYE MURPHY, CSD at Meredith’s KCTV in Kansas City might be passing them out…he and his lovely wife have welcomed a darling little daughter to the family. So delightful to hear.

Thanks to former promo pro and TV GM LEE ARMSTRONG LUMPKIN for bringing us today’s Think About This.

KARA MCNEELY has traded the palm trees of Miami for the palm trees of Los Angeles.  A distance of approximately 2,733 miles.  Ms. Kara has gone west because she has taken the Promotion Manager slot at KABC, where she’s been hard at work since March. Good thing, since her VP WENDY MCMAHON had her hands full with her new baby son during that time frame. Kara came on board from NBC in Miami where she was Director of Brand and Marketing. Along the way Kara has also worked doing promo for Scripps network in Knoxville, WISH in Indianapolis, as well as Tribune and Granite. Well Dunne! Kara.

Think About This:  “If you were to say to the grown-ups: "I saw a beautiful house made of rosy brick, with geraniums in the windows and doves on the roof," they would not be able to get any idea of that house at all. You would have to say to them, "I saw a house that cost $20,000." Then they would exclaim, "Oh, what a pretty house that is!”   ~  Antoine de Saint Exupéry from The Little Prince
