The South isn’t used to snow. Or the kind of cold temps that are visiting at the moment. So let’s talk about warm and fun…how about talking about…Hawaii. Or more so, saying Aloha to Hawaii. What? Leave Hawaii? Yes, one does come and go from the islands (ask someone about island fever) and yet one’s heart stays on the white sandy beaches. The heart has moved west…it couldn’t afford to be in San Francisco. Back on track, let’s hear it for post-TV creative KAREN FUJII who is heading to Seattle. Actually, she’s there now. Just arrived on the mainland. There in the home of Starbucks and Nordstrom, she’ll be be Director of Marketing and Communications for Seattle University. She’s been studying at University of Hawaii at Manoa and is thrilled to be, as she puts it, closer to her friends in Europe yet sad she’ll be further from the friends in New Zealand and Australia. The lady is SO global! She’s worked in Denmark and at WJKS (as it was known then) in Jacksonville. As soon as she settles into Seattle (which is in search of a new nickname….) and unpacks tons of boxes, she’ll be out and about. Buy her a latte or a Northwest fish and make her feel at home. Well Dunne! Karen.
Yes, there is life after TV and it’s glorious. That’s today’s mantra.

Hawaii. The trade winds…the torches lit nightly as the sun sets…relaxing slack key guitar music wafting through the air…ahhhhh. Paradise indeed. Alas, not the holiday destination. However, it is not only where KAREN FUJII is spending the holidays, it’s her new home! Karen has packed up and moved from Seattle to sunny Honolulu where she’s now the Communications Officer at the Office for the VP if IT and CIO at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, which is right in the middle of Honolulu and is just gorgeous, as if you haven’t guess that already. Karen has had the most interesting international career, starting with her degree from North Florida and her time spent doing promos at WJKS in Jacksonville, where she also worked at the Florida Times Union as a staff writer. From Florida, she went to be Senior Promo Prodoucer at TV2 Denmark, and was Creative Services Manager for Viastat Broadcasting…of course in Europe! She came back to the states, to Seattle, and was head of MarCom at KCTS, the PBS outlet. Hawaii is going to love this bubbly, interesting and witty lady. Ho’omaika’i ‘ana and Well Dunne! Karen.
