As promised, more news from Seattle. This is about KIRO where CHLOE HOUSER has hired a bright #2 in the form of PETER SEIFERT. Peter will make the coast-to-coast move from CBS affil WBTV in Charlotte where he’s been writing and producing as well as growing his talents under CSD ROBBY THOMAS’ skilled leadership. I’m sure Peter stop off in his home state of Iowa on the way west. KIRO will be his third job in ‘the biz’ having also worked as Marketing Director of KYOU in Ottumwa, Iowa. Bonus points for those who know Ottumwa is the hometown of Radar O’Reilly. Peter has a degree – a Masters – from Northern Iowa U and has had his own ongoing concern named Brickroad out of Cedar Falls. A lot of great experience headed to the Cox CBS in the hometown of Starbucks. Well Dunne! Peter.

Sincere condolences to KRONON producer and former marketing pro CHUCK HARRELL whose lovely mother passed away rather suddenly Sunday morning.

KIRO’s CSD CHLOE HOUSER has landed herself ‘a catch’ as her new Brand Manager. JIM MARKETTI is heading to Seattle and he starts next Monday. The University of Wisconsin-Madison grad started as a news photog at WITI in Milwaukee and transitioned to promo there, and that led to being Exec Producer Ad and Promo at KSTP in Minneapolis. Chicago was the next market where he was Promo Manager at FOX WFLD then at NBC’s WMAQ. He went back to WFLD as a member of the VP Club. Jim’s also been doing his promo magic for Weigel Broadcasting and was Creative Director for the Local Station Group for them. He’s been busy over at WLS in Chicago lately. You need to give him a hearty Well Dunne! Jim!

The beautiful Pacific Northwest’s jewel is Seattle. The co-jewel is Portland. CHLOE HOUSER is the lucky lady who has worked and lived in both locales, and just recently she solidified a new position that will keep her amongst the trees and the tossed fish at the Pike Place Market. Ms. Chloe was promoted to Creative Services Director at CBS affil KIRO. She had been Promotion Manager so she knows her way around the place. A grad of Eastern Washington U, she got her feet wet as Promo Coordinator then Promo Manager in Spokane at KAYU. Then a jump to Portland where the lovely Chloe was an on-air host as well as promo producer then Promo Manager for KPTV before being promoted to CSD. A great big Well Dunne! to Chloe and her new slot.

You all know that KIRO in Seattle has an opening for a CSD. Well, seems the former CSD there, CARLOS ESPINOZA, has switched from TV to film. It’s a very exciting move. About two years ago, the crew was in town to shoot Battle for Seattle, staring CHARLIZE THERON and WOODY HARRELSON.   The producers  needed some footage, called Carlos and that, as they say, is the beginning of a new career opportunity for Carlos. This tale supports several truths: 1 – Networking can change your life. 2 – All the talents and skills involved in doing TV promo are exactly the kind of talents and skills filmmakers need, so more cross hiring should happen, and 3 – If your station phone system sucks, opportunity won’t reach you.  Enjoy working with Mary Aloe’s folks, Carlos. And Well Dunne!

Well Dunne’s MITCH PHILLIPS  got a great write-up just recently. Cool. For those of you who want to enjoy some interesting, entertaining and fun talk…the way only good radio can…tune into Mitch’s morning show. Eastern time 9-10a. Click here and, btw, I might be on Monday. Yep, I just might…

Any thoughts on the Leno/Conan moves? THE WRAP seems particularly honest in its assessment. Just sayin’.
