Talk about one lucky, lovely lady CSD…it’s KRISTIN JOYAL down at WAVY in the Hampton Roads (that’s Norfolk, Portsmouth Virginia ya’ll)…she was in need of a great writer producer. We all know how hard those are to find. Yet find she did…and she hit the jackpot. As a matter of fact, he’s already hard at work and, according to Kristin, knockin’ it out of the ballpark. He also did creative at WWLP in the Springfield, Massachusetts market. We can thank the former LIN now Media General group for their ability to pick and keep such a talented guy. Having a waterside station is never a bad thing, imo. Makes things more scenic, and even a tad bit cooler during this torching summer. One such waterside locale is WAVY-TV, the NBC affiliate in the Hampton Roads coastal area of Virginia. Their CSD is the lovely and talented KRISTIN JOYAL, who was kind enough to share their new hire. Coming aboard as the new Community Affairs Coordinator / Producer is TONI WILLIAMS. I’ll turn the keyboard over to Kristin for the background on Ms. Toni: Toni has a strong background in public relations and marketing. For the past six years she honed her skills at the Virginia Air & Space Center as a Marketing/Public Relations Coordinator. Toni created press materials, coordinated promotional opportunities, organized events, managed social media campaigns, developed sponsorship/trade proposals and edited written materials. Additionally, Toni served as a Board Member of the Blackbeard Pirate Festival Committee and Downtown Hampton Development Partnership Marketing Committee. The Tennessee native is a graduate of Old Dominion University where she majored in Communications. Toni says she thrives on multi-tasking and is eager to put her skills to work in television. Toni will start with us on Monday, July 23, 2012. Well Dunne! Toni.

Let’s catch up with a new hire made at WAVY over a month ago, and got overlooked with all the PROMAX excitement, high temps and what seems like a speeded up time frame. How can it be July already. But let’s forget all that and welcome MIKE NEWMAN to the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. He’s onboard and working hard for CSD KRISTIN JOYAL. He’s came from another Atlantic-side market, Greenville, NC where he was Sr. Promo Producer for WITN, Gray’s NBC affiliate. Before he did promo, he was a morning director. Ms. Joyal says he can do it all – shoot, write, edit and design graphics. They’re thrilled he’s on board. Well Dunne Mike!

Nothing like a movie buff to turn to TV promo as a way of life. Most promo pros are nuts about cinema. One such cinema buff is now producing promos for CSD KRISTIN JOYAL at LIN’s WAVY in the lovely Hampton Roads section of Virginia. JOSHUA CHAGANI is the man. The Stuart, Florida creative studied at Elon U in NC and is the winner of the LIN Scholarship Award. Impressive. Joshua has gotten to work at WALA in Mobile and WOOD in Grand Rapids before settling in at WAVY. His taste in film is quite impressive – he counts among his faves the Star Wars Trilogy, The Apartment and Fantastic Mr. Fox. Well Dunne! Joshua.
Not one, not two, not three, not four but five…count ‘em five open slots to fill at DFW’s NBC KXAS. CSD GARY WANN got the okee-dokey to hire a Sr. Designer, two (2) Topicals, 1 Preditor and a shooter/editor for his creative group. Wahoo…take that unemployment stats. Gary is the man to impress with your online reel and resume.

The Smithsonian Networks named a new Director of Corporate Communications. Welcome JOSHUA GROSS, who makes the transition from a similar role with The History Channel…his official title was Director of Public Relations. Joshua is a CUNY Hunter College grad who worked with the lovely folks over at FerenComm as well. See you at The Cable Show, Joshua. And Well Dunne!
Any Ignite Directors out there? Report to WTVD’s CURTIS MILES immediately. He needs ya.

Is it stomach flu or just the worst allergies in the world? Either way, on the mend now. And keep me posted when you have news. BTW, see the latest printed edition of PROMAXbda Brief? It absolutely rocks. Kudos to Managing Editor SHANNA GREEN and guest Editor PETER MOORE.
