New year and new duties and title for ENRICO MEYER in Denver. He’s now Creative Director of KUSA in the Mile High City…he was Promotions Manager. The man has an eye…he got his start as a shooter and editor at WDAY in North Dakota before doing the same at WIS in Columbia, SC. He began at NBC Denver as a photojournalist and segued into promotions from there. Our gain. Let’s hear a big Well Dunne! for Enrico, who gets to work with DREW SIDENER.
Gotta love Dave Dore. BTW put the accent aigu over that “e” in his last name. There ya go. Back to Dave himself. He’s the new Executive Creative Director of Ignition Creative in LA. Yep, the guy with a degree from Kalamazoo’s Western Michigan U has more creativity than you can imagine. He’s been at Do Re Mi as Executive Creative Director and Director. Ya’ll probably know him from his extensive work for NBC where he held such titles as Sr. VP Creative for NBC Entertainment Digital and NBC Entertainment Marketing. He’s handled WB Television Network Kids’ Marketing as VP and Director Original Programming For WCIU in Chicago. Man’s worked station-side at KTKA and WWMT. Excellent news Dave. Well Dunne!

Think About This: “Live the full life of the mind, exhilarated by new ideas, intoxicated by the romance of the unusual.” ~ Ernest Hemingway
Dallas is flat as a pancake while Denver sits at the foot of the majestic Rockies. Bringing this to your attention as a way to announce BLAIR NELSON is heading from Big D to another Big D – she’s the new Director of Brand and Brand for KUSA, NBC in Colorado’s capital. Ms. Blair has been at Dallas’ WFAA as Brand Development Manager, so this is an in-company promotion. Always good to see. And she’s an SMU grad to boot. Go Ponies! Ahhh…a college match. Ms. Blair has a rather oblique connection to Colorado…before going to FAA, she was a Regional Account Exec for a MillerCoors, which as any beer drinker knows is headquartered in Golden, Colorado. She worked at a Plano agency as well. Most impressively, she participated in Leadership Dallas. A big Well Dunne! and an SMU high five to Blair.

Think About This: “You’ll encounter many obstacles along the road to living your dreams. Some obstacles may be real, some imagined, some may be tangible, and some may be intangible. Some of those obstacles will be created by others, and some will be self-imposed. However they manifest, you will always be given the choice as to whether you give them power.” ~ Francine Ward
There’s nothing like promoting someone who has been working with you. It really is a vote of confidence as well as an exciting new opportunity for both parties. So, with that in mind, let’s hear it for STEVE SANCHEZ, newly named Promotion Manager for TEGNA’s CBS affiliate KYTX in Tyler, Texas. Steve has been a news editor who, no doubt, will take those lightening quick editing skills to a more artistic plane doing TV promo. His new boss, Marketing Director KEVIN MEYER, thinks Steve is on the road to being a real Rock Star. Sounds like it. Steve has been busy outside the station, namely being part of a film production. Devils Deal (available on Amazon) was shot in East Texas and Steve edited it. He loves film and this sounds like an ideal situation for everybody. It’s all coming up roses in Tyler. (bonus points if you get that) Big Well Dunne! Steve. And thanks Kevin!
Bravo to former promo pro now GM STEVE CARTER who is trading his Atlantic oysters for Rocky Mountain ones when he moves back to Denver to be GM of KUSA. Steve is currently GM of Tegna’s Portland, ME station WCSH (where they have the best News Director ever…take a bow MIKE REDDING). Steve knows his way around KUSA, where he was VP of Marketing and Promotion for just about 20 years. Big Well Dunne!
RIGHT NOW…turn off your phones, shoo people out of your office, close the door, turn up the volume of your computer and WATCH THIS VIDEO. It is THE most important lesson in economics you will EVER learn. DO IT. There will be a quiz later.
