What happens to all the ideas, the concepts…the magical one-of-a-kind constructs that inhabit the brains and souls of creative people when they shed this earth suit and take that mysterious adventure we call death? Life’s greatest enigma awaits us all, and when a creative departs, it does, indeed, leave a hole. We are the better for having known the person, but less that their individual spark is not readily visible to us. Last week, a heart attack took away DAN CUPAK. The son of Omaha, Nebraska, his marketing career took him to Florida where he exhibited his creative spark for Hearst’s WPBF in Palm Beach. He piloted marketing as Promotion Director for NBC in Charlotte as well as directed news promotion for WBTV, CBS in the Queen City. Like many of us, the lure of television was rather like a siren song and he struck out on his own to do, as he himself listed, ‘marketing stuff’ under his own banner. So very smart…he studied Physics at the University of Iowa. Sending out peace to his family and to LAURIE LAMASTER who shared this news.
Think About This: “As far as I can see, grief will never truly end. It may become softer over time, more gentle, and some days will feel sharp. But grief will last as long as love does – forever. It’s simply the way the absence of your loved one manifests in your heart. A deep longing, accompanied by the deepest love. Some days, the heavy fog may return, and the next day, it may recede, once again. It’s all an ebb and flow, a constant dance of sorrow and joy, pain and sweet love.” ~ Scribbles & Crumbs
Clicking her ruby slippers together, repeating ‘there’s no place like home…there’s no place like home’ and suddenly, LAURIE LAMASTER is back in Omaha, Nebraska. Sure, the ruby slipper thing rather refers to Kansas, as in ‘we’re not in there anymore’ but being St. Pat’s and all, taking a little liberty with a Midwest location is done with a twinkle in the eye and a big smile. Which is what Laurie is sporting as the new Creative Services Director of Journal’s CBS affiliate in Omaha, KMTV – soon to be the Scripps/Journal station. Ms. Laurie is making her way back west after heading up the creative efforts at WNEP, the ABC affil in Moosic, PA, which is in the Scranton PA market. Laurie is returning to Omaha where she was CSD at WOWT. A very talented and creative lady, she has her masters in fine art from UT San Antonio. Well Dunne! Laurie.
Fox TV Station Group Creative Wrangler (not the official title) LESLIE LYNDON signed off last Friday. After a long successful run heading up the creative efforts of the FOX O&O stations, Ms. Leslie is off to see what the world is like sans TV marketing. I bet she finds something just terrific. Well Dunne! Leslie.

Of course it’s St. Patty’s Day! Dunne is one of the more widely used last names over in Ireland, and the name of a grand department store chain. A cousin or two still lives there…one in a castle! Have a happy day.
Think About This: “May those who love us love us. And those who don’t love us, may God turn their hearts. And if He doesn’t turn their hearts, may he turn their ankles so we know them by their limp.” ~ Irish Toast
