Mod Op, the super creative digital agency, has got both sides of the country covered with their two new hires. Going into their LA office as Creative Director is ANDY HANN, who was tearin’ it up with creative in Philly at Big Smack and Concrete Pictures. New York has brought AUDRA V. PACE on board as Creative Director and Brand Strategist from her CD slot at Gluttony (love that name). She’d been at A&E Networks as Director of Strategy as well. Managing Director DAVID EDELSTEIN has added Partner to his title. Excellent. Mod Op is involved in several projects with entertainment entities and hit a home run (or should that be scored extra points) with a project for Nike where they designed a personality test to match children with their player archetypes and perhaps their new athletic shoe. Well Dunne! everybody.

Imagine waking up every morning and being happy…really happy…to go to work. And once you get to your office, you are using your talents to make a real difference to the world. That’s the new path for MAIA BRUSSEAU. You probably know her for being the CSD at Tribune’s KDVR in Denver. She’s split her time between Central Florida and the Rocky Mountains (best of both worlds) and has studied at both University of Central Florida and University of Northern Colorado. She’s done promo for WKMG, CBS in the Big O as well as for KCNC in Denver. She’ll be splitting her time again, not geographically, with her new job, as PR Manager for Denver-based Dumb Friends League. She’ll help dogs and horses find new forever homes. Excellent. Really truly excellent. TV’s loss is a gain for animals. Well Dunne! Maia.

Think About This:  “We must fight against the spirit of unconscious cruelty with which we treat the animals. Animals suffer as much as we do. True humanity does not allow us to impose such sufferings on them. It is our duty to make the whole world recognize it. Until we extend our circle of compassion to all living things, humanity will not find peace.”  ~ Albert Schweitzer

There’s someone you need to keep your eye on. Not only because they’ve got ‘what it takes’ to make a big splash in the world of TV, but because they have a special spark…they’re going to make a splash on the world. Would BRETT FORREST (not the ESPN Magazine Brett but the handsome KDVR guy) please step forward so we can tell him how interesting he is. Brett was recently named Commercial Producer at the Sinclair FOX affil in the Mile High City. He had been on staff doing the entry level thing. Although entry level really isn’t a fair assessment, since he brought a lot of experience producing to KDVR in the form of his video production work for the UC’s Career Services as well as working at Sender Films, an action adventure documentary company. Even with all that, his real light seems to shin from his volunteer activities. He’s coached youth soccer, been VP of the University of Colorado Arts and Sciences Student Government, was Student Co-Leader with CU Stands With Haiti, was Literary Intern at the Gersh Agency out in LA and has been a half-marathon mentor for the Rocky Mountain Team Challenge. An amazing guy. No doubts at all. CSD MAIA BRUSSEAU knows how to pick ‘em. Let’s repeat…keep your eye on this one. Well Dunne! Brett in so many, many ways.

This is definitely the time of year that skiers are scoping out the slopes, and there’s no better locale for the skier than Denver, where some of the most impressive runs are literally just around the next mountain. I wonder if KRISTEN TWELE will grab a pair of Rossignols when she arrives Monday at KDVR, the Sinclair FOX affil in The Mile High City. She’ll be doing her creative producing for them. A Southern girl by birth (Memphis) and location, Kristen is making the switch from Raycom’s WBRC, also FOX, in Birmingham. Ms. Kristen won a First Place Annie Award for best social media campaign while there. She’s got her degree in Media Production from The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg and she interned at WMC in Memphis. KDVR CSD MAIA BRUSSEAU confesses to hiring quite a few Southerners over the last two year. Interesting…! My guess is that Kristen will ask Santa for some warm clothes. A very big Well Dunne! Kristen.

DANI DUDEK is a ball of energy. I remember first meeting her when (then) FOX in Charlotte was signing on their news operation. She was young and enthusiastic and you could tell she had a ton of talent. She indeed signed that FOX newscast on and from there, went to Atlanta, Austin and then LA where her bubbly self ended up at Fox Television Stations. Affiliate relations were a breeze for her…the personality kid. She’s a southern girl at heart, and she loves putting her talents to use making on-air spots, so when she saw an opening in Charleston, SC, one of the most exciting places to live, she took it. Dani is taking the Marketing Director slot at Raycom’s WCSC, CBS in Rhett Butler’s hometown. I know she’ll be mincing about the Battery quite soon when she’s not writing fascinating blogs – that girl can wire!  A big Well Dunne! Danielle.

So what about AMANDA CURRY, the lady who had been Marketing Director at WSCS? She’s been promoted. Raycom was on the lookout for two Regional Marketing Managers to help LEC COBLE, who’s kicking It as corporate marketing guru. He tapped Amanda for one of those slots. She’s a grad of The Ohio State University and that’s all I know at the moment…will catch up with her this week.

Lovely MAIA BRUSSEAU, CSD at KDVR in Denver, has the following open slots in the Job Alert section:

BRYCE RICHARDS is taking a new career step. The Columbia College of Chicago grad has taken the promo writer producer slot at Fox affil KDVR in The Mile High City, Denver. Bryce is coming over from sister Tribune station WITI in Milwaukee. His new boss, the lovely and talented MAIA BRUSSEAU, is looking forward to his start date in mid April. But wait…there’s more. KDVR will also welcome STEPHEN RYLE as their new commercial producer. Mr. R is coming from Raycom’s CBS affil WTOC in historic Savannah, GA. Stephen starts today (if you read this on Monday).  Thanks MAIA and Well Dunne! Bryce and Stephen.

Do you know bubbly MAIA BRUSSEAU? If no, you should. If yes, then you’ll be thrilled to hear she’s been promoted to Creative Services Director of Denver’s KDVR/ KWGN, Fox and MyTV. The lovely Maia had been Promotion Manager and has been holding down the creative fort since ERIK CANDIANI took the Director of Marketing and Creative slot at KARE in Minneapolis. Maia’s a sunshine lady, whether it’s Florida sunshine or the sun from the slopes in the Rockies. She’s worked at WKMG in Orlando twice, and at Denver’s CBS affil KCNC. It’s such a pleasure to share the good news with her. Well Dunne! Maia.

With her old title/positio left open, commercial producer CHRIS LUPENSKI was tapped and was promoted to Promotion Manager. The sentence ‘promotion to Promotion Manager’ sounds rather odd, but that’s what happened. Dan is originally from Danbury, Connecticut and made his way to Denver via Atlanta and Birmingham. He’s a Roll Tide Bama fan in case you are as well.  He began his TV career at the Center for Public Television at University of Alabama and his first real job…one with a paycheck…was at WDBB in Tuscaloosa, site of a classic Groucho Marx line. Well Dunne! Chris.

Now is the perfect time to start your search for a new station voice. And can Well Dunne!Talent help. Yes we sure can. Click…listen…be happy.

I guess it was because she was born in LA that MALIA ARMANI loves summer and sunshine. She’s happy as can be now for two reasons..one is that it is definitely summer and two because she has a great new job. Malia is now the Promotion Manager of CBS’s Denver operation, KCNC. Despite her California debut, Malia is a Denver girl through and through, having landed there as a 1 year old. Since then, she’s been drinking in the mile high city even though she’s not a big fan of winter and the resultant sports for which Denver is noted. The lucky lady has been able to work in the TV promo world all this time. She’s coming to CBS from KDVR, the Fox outlet (and she adores her old boss MAIA BRUSSEAU) and before that she doing promo for the CW outlet. A very big Well Dunne! Ms. Maia, who qualifies for a Great Name alert.

DIANA RICHARDSON is one of those promo types who forged the biz and blazed the trail. She’s got a birthday this Monday, so as you’re doing the Labor Day relaxation routine, think good thoughts on her behalf.

Just a reminder that Well Dunne! is all about voices. Who else can find you the perfect sound for your brand and your budget? Nobody.

Let’s take a breather for the long weekend. Please have a safe, happy, relaxing time. And step away from the computer/iPhone unless you’re watching a movie – unplug and see what happens.

Talk about  a change of place.  BEN BATES has been in Baton Rouge, where the humidity is as thick as a Morton’s steak and the temps linger in the 90’s for months on end. He’s now a member of MAIA BRUSSEAU’s creative team at KDVR, Fox in Denver, the mile high city noted for snow and low humidity. This is definitely a 180 for young Ben. He learned the promo game at WVLA, NBC down in Baton Rouge. Enjoy your new locale and have a blast with your new collegues. Well Dunne! Ben.

Other things, like capitalism, free enterprise, the economy, currency, the market, are not forces of nature – we invented them. They are not immutable and we can change them. Thank you for all your caring thoughts on the death of my mother, Marylu Dunne. She was in the radio business, and many of her friends went on to be the pioneers of TV  in St. Louis, our hometown. She is now, no doubt, reunited with all the wonderfully crazy co-workers and friends she worked with. How I wish there was a copy of her radio show, which aired during WWII – Saturday morning she would do a roundup on the availability of rationed items at area markets. There is no question that I inherited the broadcast gene as well as the shopping gene from her. Mahalo.

It’s close to hometown Rapid City, SD. But it’s also a great new spot for MAIA BRUSSEAU, who is now Promotion Manager at KDVR in Denver. The Local TV-owned FOX affiliate in the Mile High City is where the lovely Maia will be doing her creative thing and she’s all smiles. Maia has also been at WKMG, the Post Newsweek CBS affil in Orlando. Congrats on the new title and Well Dunne! Maia.

VOTE today. Nuf said.

Speaking of the election, did you hear about the marketing campaign that combines Texas politics, cow manure, special events and social media? No, it’s NOT a joke. But one has to laugh.

Wheel of Fortune’s iconic intro voice has passed away. CHARLIE O’DONNELL had a super voice and he will be missed.
