There’s no place like home.  Dorothy knew that and spent her time in Oz looking to return to Kansas. Most of us don’t have to worry about a Wizard or a hot air balloon to do this. Despite it all, Home is still what calls us, and so many of you make changes with that as the focal point. How can we get the HR people to understand that going home…being close to family…is not just a valid point, but THE valid point in life’s path. Such is the case with two wonderful Creatives. BOBBY RIGG is back in Houston amongst family and making the folks happy at KHOU where he’s Sr. Writer Producer. Heading home to the Pacific Northwest is KEVIN KIRKALDIE, who had been at the Nexstar duop in Memphis. He’s a super guy, so all you NW folks who are on the lookout for someone super…he’s your man. Well Dunne! Bobby and Kevin.

Get out the confetti and streamers…it’s an anniversary. Voice man MARK DRISCOLL started his radio career on this date quite a few years ago. He’s made huge impacts in NYC, LA, Philly…you get the idea. Of course, he’s been nicknamed Mr. Voice by RICK DEES.

Job Alert – VP Creative TruTV NYC

He’s got the winter wardrobe for it. ERIK CANDIANI is trading Denver for Minneapolis as he takes over as Director of Marketing and Creative Services at Gannett’s NBC affil, KARE in the Twin Cities. He makes the switch from being VP Marketing and Creative Services at Local TV owned Fox affil KDVR in the Mile High city. He’ll be in place up Minneapolis way by May 6. Yes, he’s happy…I turn it over to him to tell you about it. "I was extremely fortunate to have had a supportive General Manager at KDVR who truly believed in — and stood so staunchly behind me. And a Creative Services Management team who were both extremely creative and so very loyal. I sincerely hope they are lucky enough to have the exact same experience I did sometime in their careers." But wait…there’s more.  Yep, there’s the job, the new city, a new place to live… but come the end of June, and Erik and his lovely wife will welcome their third child. Talk about everything being happy and glad. Well Dunne! Erik!

Job Alert – Promotion Manager WISN Milwaukee

FOX DC’s COSMO LOSCO had a big day Tuesday. It was the day the soundtrack to his indie film became available. You gotta check it out. He composed 15 totally awesome Sci-Fi tracks…which qualifies him for the title Super-Creative (like Super-Model, only healthy)

There seems to be a flood epidemic. MARK DRISCOLL had not one but two before settling down in a great LA place. NICK SANABRIA is still trying to sort out the deluge that took out his studio (he’s still handling his stations – he’s just so versatile) and now I had to waste all day due to water from some dishwasher situation.  Which leads to the next item…

In case you’re thinking of a new breakfast menu, might it be suggested you try Maple Bacon flavored vodka. Yes, it really exists, as does Blueberry Pancake flavored vodka and Glazed Donut flavored. The wonders of modern science never fail to impress. No wonder breakfast can be the most popular meal of the day

Boy, things are heating up in Houston, and it’s not just the weather. We’ve already spilled the story about KELLY LAMBERT heading to NBC affil KPRC as Brand Manager. Now we’re adding MICHAEL PENIX as Promotion Manager at the Post Newsweek station. It’s a homecoming for Michael, who was doing promo producing across town for TOM ASH over at ABC’s KTRK. That was before he went to Columbia, South Carolina where he headed up the creative department for Gannett’s WLTX in SC’s capital. Other stops along the way for the University of Oklahoma grad include KFOR in OKC and KTUL in Tulsa, his hometown. He should get to know Tulsa native and Well Dunne! Talent voice MARK DRISCOLL.  A big Well Dunne! Michael.

Thought your Monday was not up to snuff? Try being RICK SNYDER over at the Speed Channel. Let’s just say it isn’t often one gets to say your week began with a naked man breaking into your offices. Details here.

Speaking of not being up to snuff…GoDaddy had to be taken to the woodshed for their problems with something about advanced hosting of the Well Dunne! Talent site. Thank heavens for the best IT person ever, BRANDON ANJELENO. He nearly had the phone growing out of his ear – that’s how long he had them on the phone to finally get it straightened away. Hugs and Well Dunne! Brandon. GoDaddy – not so much.

JESSICA STOWELL has had quite a year…and it’s all good. She’s now JESSICA HENDRICKS having married the most handsome man earlier in 2010. So in addition to a wonderful private life, her career just took an exciting turn with a brand new job. She’s departing her News Promotion Manager position at CBS in Boston, WBZ for those into call letters. Where’s she going? To Digitas, the huge agency that has offices all over the world, including Boston. Her new title is Associate Director of Marketing. Such lovely news for such a lovely lady. Well Dunne! Jessica.

Which, of course, means that her old slot of News Promo Manager is open. Job Alert. Let the resumes begin.  Also Chicago’s WBBM is looking for a promo producer/editor.

Also a shout out to VERONICA MARCH who tipped us all off to a good job up North at KSTP, where they’re looking for a Promo Coordinator.

Sending good thoughts to Well Dunne! Talent’s MARK DRISCOLL’s mom, who is having a hip replacement today.

Think About This: "We have only to believe. And the more threatening and irreducible reality appears, the more firmly and desperately must we believe. Then, little by little, we shall see the universal horror unbend, and then smile upon us, and then take us in its more than human arms. No, it is not the rigid determinism of matter and of large numbers, but the subtle combinations of the spirit, that give the universe its consistency. The immense hazard and the immense blindness of the world are only an illusion to him who believes."

Dallas is one of my favorite places. Getting to stay on a career path and remain there isn’t always easy, but it’s exactly what NALER WILLIAMS has done. The Art Institute of Dallas grad is now Graphic Artist at KDAF, the CW affil in DFW. Over on Carpenter. NALER (that’s a family name – so pretty) has done his art thing at DNA Productions as well as NBC’s KXAS and NBC Artworks. I wonder if he had a hand in their website, which is VERY nice. They list the headlines for all the DFW TV stations on it…cutting edge and helpful. Well Dunne! Naler.

The ABC-based Live Well Network has tapped PEGGY ALLEN for their VP of Programming slot. She’s been at WCVB in Boston and Lifetime. Well Dunne!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY goes out to Well Dunne! Talent’s MARK DRISCOLL. He sounds exactly as good if not better than he did before…hope he enjoys his celebration to the max.

USA Network named a new marketing honcho. Congrats to SANDRA SCHRON, whose title is now VP Production, under which marketing and digital plus brand strategy will fall. She’s been upped from her previous post of director of production on-air, marketing division.  A grad of St. Francis College, she has a background in  ops and marketing, with successful stints at Lifetime and SyFy (she played a big part in that rebrand). Based in NYC, Sandra is also a member of TV Diva Network Alliance. That sounds like way too much fun. Well Dunne! Sandra.

Let’s see a show of hands…how many have watched the TV holiday classic Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer? Wow..a lot of you. Sadly, the voice of Rudolph has died. That voice was done by Billie Mae Richards who was 88.

RAB Radio Show is sold out. Great news. So for those going, while you’re there, don’t miss what promises to be the most fun session (and informative to boot) called Where are the Writers? Hosted by Ron Chapman, who I’ve listened to in Dallas and loved, the panel is legendary – Dick Orkin of Radio Ranch, Chris Smith of The Richard Group and Well Dunne! Talent’s own legend, MARK DRISCOLL.

The LATIMES takes on that out-in-the-open secret of TV News stories being income generating segments. Obviously, not at stations where trust is an issue.

Think About It: "I am in between stories. The old one is gone, and the new one is just beginning to take shape. When we already have a story we are heavily identified with, whether we appear to like this story or not, it is difficult to stay awake, to watch our thoughts and feelings without letting them dictate our actions. A clear story about who we are makes it hard to wait and let our actions arise from the deep and open emptiness of experiencing who we are right now, makes it difficult to allow actions to arise that may be inconsistent with how our story says we should move." ~ Oriah Mountain Dreamer

What a Monday. Let’s embrace the here and now and run with it. Of course, it’s sunny where I am and that helps…sorry about that storm Ida over on the Gulf…

Up Chicago way, NBC’s WMAQ’s JAY WADHWA has a new title. He’s now Director, Local Brand Marketing. His old title was Manager of Creative Services. Sounds good. Well Dunne! Jay.

Well Dunne! Talent’s KEVIN GASSMAN kicks off a new gig this Friday. Scottsdale-based Gass (he insists on calling himself that) will host a radio show – MyStudio Radio. It’s on KWSS FM and also online, so everybody can give it a listen. Starts at 2pm Arizona time and you can hear it via mystudio.net  Well Dunne! Kevin.

Speaking of Well Dunne! Talent (how smooth was that? Ha) MARK DRISCOLL did the coolest movie promo for the latest in the popular vampire tales. Take a listen and get those goosebumps.
