Promotions are not just what some people call what you do. There’s other promotions, like earning a promotion at work. It’s a major vote of confidence. It’s new things to learn and do….a new title…more money (seriously, you need more money with a new title)…and a whole new way to express your best skills. To quote Martha Stewart – a very good thing. Hearing of someone getting a promotion deserves all the hoopla, excitement and celebration we can muster. Everybody, muster great energy for LAURA GREMELSBACKER, who was upped from Director of Community Projects and PR at NBC’s WVIT in Hartford to Brand Manager. Yep, she’s steering the creative ship. Ms. Laura is a Connecticut girl who attended the Central Connecticut State U and was Promotion Manager at WVIT. She served as VP of Communications for Special Olympics in the Nutmeg State and Communication Manager at Travelers. She’s got a mega-watt smile and a new job…the world is her oyster. Well Dunne! Laura.

Think About This:  "So, keep on keeping on living the life which your inner voice directs, kindly, lovingly: giving help wherever you can, giving love and sustenance to this great work of illuminating all life. Your life is like a pebble dropped into a pool of water, creating ripples endlessly. You do not know the end of a word, a thought, an action."  ~ White Eagle

Stand up to Cancer! That’s the headline today and a reminder of the importance of the show and it’s focus tonight. No excuses for missing it, since it will be on ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, Discovery Health, E!, G4, HBO, HBO Latino, MLB Network, Showtime, The Style Network and TV One and over 30 online streaming partners like AOL, Yahoo! and YouTube. 8 E & P/ 7 C. Well Dunne! to all the brilliant management behind the decision to air.

The highway between Phoenix and Tucson is well traveled. The 116 mile trip seems further than it sounds (think traffic and mountains) but ANDREW CALIENDO will not only be taking it when he wants, not because he has to. Andrew has taken the Promotion Manager slot at CBS affil KPHO in Phoenix. He’s going to be working with CSD MATT HYATT and my favorite Art Director CHRIS AYERS. Andrew’s been down wrangling the creative at KVOA, the NBC affiliate in Tucson. The Phoenix slot will be like old home week for Mr. C…he once worked there writing and producing. Well Dunne! Andrew.

Get a lot of rest this weekend. Monday will be the start of the new season, what with Martha Stewart unpacking for her new slot at  Hallmark Channel (I wish Martha would help me move…I bet she never  breaks anything and isn’t one of those people who ends up with boxes that never get opened) and Oprah kicking off her last season. There’s tons more, of course, so grab your vitamins and realize now is indeed the time to rationalize buying that 72 inch hi-def.

Kentucky does not have any beach front property. Landlocked as it is. And who can resist a great beach? Not KRISTIN HARGIS, who is now in the Creative Services Manager seat at WMBF in Myrtle Beach, SC. For you trivia buffs, yes it is where VANNA WHITE is from. The Raycom-owned NBC affil is the fourth NBC station where Kristin has worked. The Somerset, KY native was at WLEX in Lexington, WAVE in Louisville as writer-producer then was a Sr. Writer producer at WSMV in Nashville. She knows all the Peacock net marketing secrets, for sure. Making the move with Kristin is her 1 year old wirehaired Fox Terrier Baxter and her 10 year old poodle/Bichon mix, Macy. Those pups will love getting to run on the sand. Forgot to ask Kristin if Baxter’s name came from Ron Burgundy. Glad to hear of your new gig, Ms.  Hargis. Well Dunne!

WFXL in Albany Georgia is making news in the way they make news. Hasta la vista paper. Hello iPads.

MARTHA STEWART is always on top of things. Now, she’s getting into video games for women. Yes, women over 40 constitute the fastest growing segment of gamers.

Well duh…the NYTimes says that TV and radio contests in today’s economy work when you give away cash. Who knew.
