If KOVR/KMAX – CBS/CW in Sacramento – is looking even better than normal this week, it’s due to a change in the Art Department. Let’s start with brand new Art Director MIKE WIEBE, who was promoted after 8 very imaginative years doing all kinds of eye-catching things, including reinventing the Good Day look. Joining Mike as of this last Monday was BRIAN WHEATLEY whose title is News Graphics Manager. Yep, that means he’s fast, good and doesn’t let stress get to him. Brian comes to California’s capital from Great Falls, Montana (gorgeous gorgeous) where he worked at KRTV in a number of jobs, each more important, etc. He was tasked with the graphics look of 7 CBS stations. Lookin’ good you guys. Their boss DON SMITH is one happy guy. Well Dunne! KOVRers and KMAXers.

Job Alert – Nighside Brand Producer WKMG Orlando

WKMG, Local 6 in sunny Orlando Florida, has an immediate opening for a Night side News Brand Producer. If you have an innate marketing instinct and are a news junkie–we want to talk to you! The News Brand Producer is a night side position in the Creative Services Department responsible for bringing the Local 6 news brand to life through compelling topical writing, editing and strategic conceptualization. Candidate must be able to target the most promotable stories within a newscast and write effective topicals to connect with our viewers. The ideal candidate is a skilled tease writer, and editor as well as a savvy producer. This role will also participate in social media marketing, station image and sweeps promotions. The News Brand Producer is a team-player, a self starter and can change creative direction easily. 

Responsibilities

  • Write, produce, edit compelling spots that connect with Local 6 viewers
  • Strong copy writing skills with an understanding of how to sell news stories
  • Develop social marketing strategies to promote news brand
  • Assist in all areas of station promotions, marketing, community events and more
  • Participate fully in daily news meetings
  • Produce image, web videos, and other promotions as assigned
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends
  • Reports to Creative Services Director

Qualifications

  • Two years + topical news promotion experience 
  • Knowledge of Premier or Final cut experience and After Effects a plus
  • Ability to change directions on projects easily and quickly
  • Work well with news producers, photographers and reporters in the field
  • Ability to problem-solve, find positive solutions to challenges 
  • Both a team player and a solo act rolled into one 
  • Must be well organized and highly motivated 
  • Be able to thrive under pressure
