Very smart move…expanding the creative business to embrace philanthropic and charitable arenas. It’s exactly what Pongo is doing.  You know Pongo, the folks in Hollywood who do the creative marketing and branding. Pongo…TOM MCGOUGH and GARY SACHS. 25 years in biz. Oh THAT Pongo. Have another cup of coffee and read on. To reach out and lead this new division of their company, they chose an A+ creative. They picked ROD POMERANTZ who is now the VP of Content and Strategy for them, coming over from Disney Channel where he was VP Marketing and Creative. Look for some outstanding and impactful PSA’s, spots, B-to-B integration and interstitials coming from this lovely new combo. Rod’s a Jersey native who went to Skidmore and has worked at SOAPnet as well as Taffet Designs and TVGuide Network. Big Well Dunne! Rod and Pongos.

Click and listen to the great music (which you could put under promos when you buy it!) and look at the cool Burning Man pix. Thanks NICK SANABRIA. Details tomorrow on the music.

MICHAEL BROUDER has a new job but is staying in the same city – always good news for those who are not particularly thrilled with the act and art of moving. Mr. B is the new Creative Services Director at WTHR, the Dispatch owned NBC affil in Indianapolis. He’s making the switch from Tribune’s stations, WXIN – FOX and WTTV – CW in Indy. His background is very interesting, and includes Director of Marketing and Network Presentation for Fox Sports Net out of Atlanta and Director of Creative Services at WGN in Chicago. He’s a Midwest guy and that’s the best. Well Dunne! Michael.

Chicago’s MDs are busy today with both NICK SANABRIA and SUE BERG getting better and better thanks to medical advances. Like all great Well Dunne! Talent, they are only out a few days and then back to the mic! And if you’re wondering what MELANIE HAYNES is up to…well, she’s in front of the camera again! Doing a new film. More on that to come…

Any of you game to spend $18.50 for one (1) movie ticket for the new Tom Hardy film? Told the reason for the high price was they had recently installed leather seats in the theatre and put in a new sound system. Hmm, wonder what marketing classes they attended to come up with that.

Every now and then, you stumble across something you never knew about a person/friend you felt you knew well. Happened with Well Dunne! Talent’s NICK SANAMBRIA. (His voice is just marvelous!) His father and uncle were amazing inventors who specialized in the technology that made TV possible. He’s promised to write about it later. When his dad was in WW2, one of the projects he did was set up communications for the Allies in D-Day. Working from England, he was assigned a billeted living quarters and a driver. The driver turned out to be QUEEN ELIZABETH, who at the time was Princess Elizabeth. Wow…amazing. Should I say Well Dunne! Your Royal Highness? Not appropriate, actually.

Well Dunne Talent’s NICK SANABRIA got a major kick out of the new book written by Richard Castle. What you say…that’s a fictional character? Indeed. And the book, actually there’s a whole series of them, is a cross media promotion…a real book written by a fictional character. Give that marketing person an award of some sort.

He’s got the winter wardrobe for it. ERIK CANDIANI is trading Denver for Minneapolis as he takes over as Director of Marketing and Creative Services at Gannett’s NBC affil, KARE in the Twin Cities. He makes the switch from being VP Marketing and Creative Services at Local TV owned Fox affil KDVR in the Mile High city. He’ll be in place up Minneapolis way by May 6. Yes, he’s happy…I turn it over to him to tell you about it. "I was extremely fortunate to have had a supportive General Manager at KDVR who truly believed in — and stood so staunchly behind me. And a Creative Services Management team who were both extremely creative and so very loyal. I sincerely hope they are lucky enough to have the exact same experience I did sometime in their careers." But wait…there’s more.  Yep, there’s the job, the new city, a new place to live… but come the end of June, and Erik and his lovely wife will welcome their third child. Talk about everything being happy and glad. Well Dunne! Erik!

FOX DC’s COSMO LOSCO had a big day Tuesday. It was the day the soundtrack to his indie film became available. You gotta check it out. He composed 15 totally awesome Sci-Fi tracks…which qualifies him for the title Super-Creative (like Super-Model, only healthy)

There seems to be a flood epidemic. MARK DRISCOLL had not one but two before settling down in a great LA place. NICK SANABRIA is still trying to sort out the deluge that took out his studio (he’s still handling his stations – he’s just so versatile) and now I had to waste all day due to water from some dishwasher situation.  Which leads to the next item…

In case you’re thinking of a new breakfast menu, might it be suggested you try Maple Bacon flavored vodka. Yes, it really exists, as does Blueberry Pancake flavored vodka and Glazed Donut flavored. The Windy City is set to welcome a new creative in the form of GRANT HORNE, who is taking the Promotion Manager slot at FOX Chicago. Grant is a particularly super guy, and he was written up in a previous Well Dunne blog post. He’s been at WCVB, the Hearst ABC in Boston, working with another favorite, CSD RUSS NELLIGAN. Once in Chicago, Grant will report to the lovely and talented CARRIE KING and, as a bonus, get to work with Well Dunne! Talent’s NICK SANABRIA, who knows Chicago like the back of his hand. He’ll be a big help, Grant. Well Dunne!

Elsewhere in Chicago, ROGER EBERT is fighting a recurrence of his cancer. I hope you’ll join in sending him healing wishes for an end to his health issues. Always been a huge Ebert fan.

EVAN MINSKOFF is a hoot…he describes himself on his Twitter page as: “SVP, Marketing & Brand Strategy @OvationTV. Comedy-writing, sitcom-loving, carb-obsessed dog fanatic.” Who doesn’t love that??  He’s coming to Ovation from head of branding at Gilt Group. His background is most impressive…Disney, Digitas and The About Group. Well Dunne! Evan.

Same great city…different office. CARRIE KING is a Chicago lady through and through and she’s switching offices in Chicago, decamping the Trib where she has been Regional Vice President Innovation & Imagination at Tribune Creative Group | Central U.S. Why is she leaving Trib, where she’s practically grown up handling such promo slots as CSD WGN America and Director of Creative Services for CLTV News? She’s the new VP of Creative Services at FOX WFLD and WPWR in the Windy City. She began today (but only if you are reading this on Monday July 9…otherwise, not so much). She’s got a real handle on Chicago, which is one of those unique markets that really does have their own way of thinking… and speaking. She’s studied at Lake Forest’s Barat College and at the amazing School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I know she lives on the northside, so let’s guess she’s a Cubs fan. She’s going to love working with Well Dunne!s NICK SANABRIA. Well Dunne! Carrie.

Definition 6 has news. They’re the cool-o Atlanta & NYC marketing agency and they have two new hires to crow about. MARIBETH PHILLIPS is now the Executive Producer and JOHN SEXTON is the new Interactive Creative Director. They’re both gonna office in The Apple. Maribeth comes over from Imaginary Forces where she was Managing Director and EP. Before that she was with Lee Hunt, then it became Razorfish. Well Dunne! Maribeth and John. Give my regards to FRANK RADICE.

It’s the same only way different….that’s probably how ADAM STOTSKY is explaining his new role at G4. Last August, Adam departed his slot as President of Marketing at NBC Entertainment out in LA. Just today, he was tapped to be General Manager of G4, NBCU’s video game-centric media outlet. The West Virginia U grad has held executive marketing slots at Discovery and SyFy, where he was EVP Global Brand Strategy and Market Development back when it was called SciFi. Well Dunne! Adam.

During the holiday break, Well Dunne! Talent’s NICK SANABRIA blew some candles out on his latest birthday cake….and  RICH VANSLYKE was all over TV with his new spots for Ethan Allen. Just love my guys (and girls).

Uber talented LARRY WATZMAN is so much closer to his family, he’s already getting ready for those Sunday dinners where you catch up and overeat.  What got Larry into the family way, so to speak, is his new gig at Buffalo’s NBC affil, WGRZ. He’s now their Marketing Manager and he’s loving it. Larry has been doing that creative thing in Philly for Comcast, WFAA and KXAS in DFW as well as heading up ReVNew. But he’s putting family first and that makes for a happy man. Well Dunne! my friend.

Larry, you have to meet LISA SCOTT, one of Well Dunne! Talent’s super voices. She lives in Buffalo but you hear her everywhere.

Condolences to Well Dunne! Talent’s NICK SANABRIA who lost his beloved dog Annie to cancer. She was always at his feet in his studio, and that leaves a hole in the heart.

Open Creative Services Director slots as of today: WICS/Springfield IL, KPHO/Phoenix, WGNO/New Orleans, WGMB/Baton Rouge, WSWB/Monterrey, WESH/Orlando. More open slots tomorrow.

That catchy ‘what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas’ line is not one that ERIC DAHL believes in whatsoever. Seems that Mr. D spent 10 years in Sin City and has been promoted out to Music City – he’s now creative guru at WZTV, Sinclair’s FOX affil in Nashville. He had been at KVVU for ten years or so. It was a whirlwind move, but he’s loving the new locale.  Eric has a degree from Southeast Missouri (rah home state!) State U and has worked in Minny-St. Paul as well as Cape Girardeau. Eric has a wonderful smile, and he’s smiling at his new gig. Well Dunne! Eric!

The Inspiration Networks have tapped TARA BROWN to be their Media Relations Manager at the Charlotte-area based network. Tara has a degree from City University of New York-Baruch College and has worked doing PR for Harper Collins Publishers as well as Hilton Publishing. She’s onboard just in time to handle all the fun at the upcoming Cable Show in Chicago. Well Dunne! Tara.

EXTRA EXTRA is publishing at The Cable Show. Take note those who handle PR – you’ll be hearing from me.

Talk about a Good News – Bad News kind of story. Well Dunne! Talent’s NICK SANABRIA was on hand when Francisco Liriano  threw that no-hitter against the White Sox in Chicago. Nick’s wife  is a Sox fan.

Envy is what it is…getting to go back to grad school. And not just any grad school. I’m talking about soon-to-be former writer producer MICHAEL SEVERSON who is going to say adieu to TV promo and enter the Integrated Marketing Communications Master’s program at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern in Chicago. It’s THE best for marketing and he is going to tear it up! Michael has his undergrad from Syracuse and has been at WCNC in Charlotte for the last two years. He’s also worked at  WBTW in Myrtle Beach as well as a post house in Seattle with the amusing name Flying Spot. Michael, you’ll be missed, but I can’t wait to hear about all the exciting new things you’ll learn and do up there.  Well Dunne!

Speaking of Chicago…Michael and Well Dunne! Talent’s NICK SANABRIA will get together at some point and all I can say is you’ll know by the laughter.

Switching from the Triangle (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill) to the lovely southwest coast of Florida is Art pro RON SAAVEDRA. He was at News 14 out of the NC capital. Now he’s hard at work for Journal’s FOX outlet, WFTX, in the Ft. Meyers – Naples market. His CSD, BRENT STRUENSE, says Ron has a great eye as well as a real grasp of the many forms of animation. He’s been on the job two weeks now and all is very happy under the palm trees. Well Dunne! Ron.
