TROY MCDONALD JR is the new member of CSD PAUL CHAPLIN’s creative crew at CBS affil WLKY in Louisville. Post Derby, L’ville is a great little city and Troy’s making the switch from Tribune’s CBS affil WTKR oceanside in the Norfolk, Virginia market. Well, not exactly Oceanside, but close to the bay and really downtown, but hey… Troy’s background started on the college radio station where he was on-air and did it all. First job in TV was running camera at WLJT in Martin, TN where he went to college. He was a Graphic Designer for Raycom in Memphis at WMC as well. Paul is thrilled to have him contributing as a writer producer for the Hearst station. Well Dunne! Troy.

Kickin’ the week off with a new job is PAUL CHAPLIN, who has, actually, returned to Louisville. He’d been in Derby Town before as Assistant Creative Services Director at WLKY…that was back in 2012 for a few years. He then hit Florida’s WESH as ACSD and now, he’s a Kentucky resident again and CSD at WLKY. But wait, he really knows the way between Lville and Otown…he worked at WESH once before as a writer producer. The University of Wisconsin Green Bay grad also worked in that city at the FOX affil. He and the lovely wife have had a whirlwind week – here’s to an easy transition and an excellent run. Well Dunne! Paul.
Late Friday, ABC had an exciting announcement that should get a lot of attention and kudos. WENDY MCMAHON was named Senior VP of Digital Media for the ABC Owned TV Station Group, which is quaintly now dubbed ABC OTV. She’s been VP of Creative and Programming at LA’s KABC, where viewers made their Facebook and Twitter pages the most followed of any TV station in the country. Wendy journey began in Louisiana and took her to creative slots at WCCO Minneapolis, WBZ Boston, KXAN in Austin, WJXT in Jacksonville and WTOC in Savannah. She’s an LSU Tiger go let’s say, besides Well Dunne!, Geaux Wendy!

Time flew too fast to get this properly written. But fear not….things will improve. First, know that PAUL CHAPLIN is Assistant Creative Services Director at WESH if that wasn’t clear from yesterday. Second, shout out to ABC VP CURTIS MILES and the best phrase of 2014 – rank flubbery. Carry on.

A station so nice, people work there twice….we’re talking WESH in Orlando, where PAUL CHAPLIN is going to return. The former writer producer is going back as Assistant Creative Services Director, leaving the ACSD slot at WLKY in Louisville. Or as he phrased it, trading bourbon and bats (which Kentucky is known for) for Mickey and Minnie. He’ll of course be in L’ville for Derby, which is all the better. More exciting news from Paul…he and his wife are expecting. He is, and it’s a quote, beyond excited. Happiness wins! Well Dunne! Paul.

That BRUCE BURNS is some smooth talker! He’s the CSD at Hearst’s WLKY in Louisville and he enticed a talented promo guy into leaving behind the warm balmy weather of Orlando, FL to come to Kentucky in the winter. Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is promotion. Joining Bruce as Promotion Manager, is PAUL CHAPLIN, who calls Milwaukee, WI home, so he’s well aware of winter. He got a degree from University of Green Bay (yes, he is a Cheesehead) and is already hitting the ground running in Derby Town. Well Dunne! Paul.
NATPE’s RICK FELDMAN is changing hats. He’ll be taking off the CEO hat and wearing a Consultant hat for the next three years. Rick’s station-side background made him a perfect CEO. Hope they find someone with the same energy and knowledge as Rick.
