What is it about the draw of a TV newsroom and the marketing thereof? It’s a strong connection and, when one steps away, the attraction never really fades to black. One progresses and finds new aspects of themselves in different jobs, keeping all the skills of promotion and production and creative discovery sharp. That’s what PETER ZEMANSKY has done…he’s now Marketing Content Specialist for a start up creative concern in Des Moines named Bing Bang. He’s pushing his personal boundaries for their clients, and he sounds very happy. He’s been at it a bit and, yet, he does indeed miss that newsroom pace. He interned at CBS News in DC and most recently was Community and Marketing Manager for FOX’s KMSP in Minneapolis-St. Paul. He knows Des Moines and was Assistant CSD for KCCI in Iowa’s capital city. Sounds like there are exciting things on his plate. Well Dunne! Peter.

There are no better marketing leaders than those who have tried many different aspects of communication. Take PETER ZEMANSKY for instance. He’s been a sports intern, a newspaper  reporter and copy editor, a sports editor at a newspaper, a TV sports intern, a camera op at a racetrack and casino (that sounds like a lot of fun with some great stories to share, eh?),  an intern at CBS Evening News in DC and a jack-of-all-trades Assistant Director who handled everything from teleprompter to directing newscasts to shooting promo footage. Now, some HR people might think this isn’t all the recipe for a promo leader, and those HR people would be dead wrong. Peter knows how things work, knows what’s involved, and won’t make decisions that are out of sanity’s range which can be made by those who have never actually done things. So Peter’s new role as Community and Marketing Manager at FOX’s own KMSP in Minneapolis – St. Paul means they got a great one. You can use that as a quote. Mr. Z is making the switch from being Assistant Creative Services Director of Hearst’s KCCI in Des Moines. The Drake grad is going to shine up north. A new north star. Well Dunne! Peter.

Iowa…the heart of America. The crossroads of political hopefuls and the fine people who grow the food we eat. There’s SO much more to Iowa than just that, but we’ll let the Chamber types fill you in should you seek futher info. Today, we’re honing in on Des Moines, largest city in Iowa and home to Hearst’s KCCI, the CBS affil. The station has welcomed BRAD RILEY as Creative Services Director and he’s been on the job since Monday (this is day #3 for him if you’re reading this on Wednesday). Brad is an Iowan by birth who also studied at Iowa State. While a student, focusing on journalism, Brad visited KCCI – and was impressed. In his timeline, he first went west to Nebraska and interned at WOWT, the Gray Television NBC affil in Omaha, where he was offered a fulltime gig and worked his way into promotion. Now he’s back in his home state, although he’s got some foreign travel on the horizon. His passport is going to get a workout after he settles in and gets his first vacay. He’s joining PETER ZEMANSKY, the very talented #2 at KCCI, so watch for some new hot spots. Well Dunne! Brad.

Did you ever hear a name and then picture what a person named that name would look like? Then when you see that person, they look like what you thought they would?  Happened with a very talented guy named PETER ZEMANSKY, who is the latest member of KCCI’s creative team. KCCI being the  Hearst-owned CBS affiliate in Des Moines, Iowa. KCCI CSD NICK ALLARD said Peter proved timing is everything…the right person, right there, at the right time. Peter interned at the station and worked his way up from there to Production Assistant to Director and was looking for a great new slot when – voila – Nick was on the hunt for a writer producer. Match – game – set.  The Butler grad has always been involved in video production, so there’s great things on the horizon up KCCI way. Well Dunne! Peter.
