Today (June 8th), all you folks at “Big” PROMAX in LA, block out some time between 10:30 and 2:30 Pacific. No, not the Comey testimony (although the ratings for that should be impressive). I’m asking you to get yourself to the Marriott…bring your creativity – and your heart as well. It’s the Caleb and Calder Sloan’s House of Awesome. The point is to create 2,000+ meals in four hours to then be distributed right away to shelters for children, adults and families. You’ll get to decorate and write encouragements alongside all the top creative, marketing and design pros. What a lovely thing to do…using your talents to help. This wonderfulness is at the behest of PROMAX Board member 2C Media’s CHRIS SLOAN and his wife CARLA. It’s part of the foundation they established in honor of their son CALDER, who would be so proud of his family and what this event is doing. Calder was Mr. Awesome. His loving spirit will be the best part of it all. Making a contribution to a better world – what better way to show your creativity. Well Dunne! everybody. God bless Calder.

Mod Op, the super creative digital agency, has got both sides of the country covered with their two new hires. Going into their LA office as Creative Director is ANDY HANN, who was tearin’ it up with creative in Philly at Big Smack and Concrete Pictures. New York has brought AUDRA V. PACE on board as Creative Director and Brand Strategist from her CD slot at Gluttony (love that name). She’d been at A&E Networks as Director of Strategy as well. Managing Director DAVID EDELSTEIN has added Partner to his title. Excellent. Mod Op is involved in several projects with entertainment entities and hit a home run (or should that be scored extra points) with a project for Nike where they designed a personality test to match children with their player archetypes and perhaps their new athletic shoe. Well Dunne! everybody.
Job Alert – Digital Sales Specialist (reports to Director of Digital Marketing) KSWO Wichita Falls

Many of you are pet owners and lovers. Former promo pro MAIA BRUSSEAU is now handling the PR for the Denver-based Dumb Friends League, and they have a wonderfully fun fund-raiser on the blocks. It’s the Pet Photo Contest. Your entry fee goes to help homeless pets (including horses, this is, afterall, Colorado) and guarantees a spot in their upcoming calendar, which is also part of the cost. It’s a win-win…details are here: http://www.gogophotocontest.com/dumbfriendsleague

PROMAX is under way, full steam in NYC. It’s time to shine a light on one of the good…no, let’s make that one of the great guys in the biz. JOHN MILLER. Great because he always encouraged people to do work above what they thought they could…great because he was fair…great because he kept a sense of humor about what it is to market entertainment. Bringing out the best in people is a gift. And he looks good as Groucho Marx. He’s being awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award. He’s currently Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of NBC Sports Group and he’s held any number of marketing titles for The Peacock. Where he keeps all the awards for the work he and his people have done…well, I guess he has a lot of shelf space in his office. He’s a Chicago man who got started at WBBM and then transitioned to CBS Network where he handled affiliate promotions and head of promotions for CBS News. What a wonderful choice. Well Dunne! John.
PATIENCE CARTER, the Fox Philadelphia intern who was shot in Orlando’s horrific Pulse killings was featured on the front landing page of the Washington Post. Her story is very moving.

Bringing a varied marketing expertise to the table is brand new PROMAXbda President and CEO STEVE KAZANJIAN. Drawing from the Art side of the aisle, Steve was Art Director of Showtime. He’s a USC grad who was one of the partners in the design studio Belief as well as partner in a digital agency named Partner. The blue-eyed Kazanjian has made quite a mark in the packaging area, holding various titles at MeadWestvaco (like VP, Global Cretive, MWV Packaging) before starting as CMO of Social Rebate. No stranger to the PROMAXbda world, he’s a former board member who has published about packaging and, of course, won tons of awards. A big Well Dunne! to Steve.
Was delighted at the sparkling CBS Network holiday promo, featuring both live and animated leads, like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Allison Janney. NYT’s Stuart Elliott sums it up for you.
Have you checked out the new Well Dunne! Talent website? Really? Seriously? And your excuse is….

PROMAXbda has chosen bpg to be their marketing agency of record. Cool. LA-based bpg, which offices at The Grove, handles some high profile clients like Bravo, GSN, Oxygen, and Tennis Channel. Their goal is to keep all members involved 365…sounds like a Well Dunne! idea.
This must be a fun slot – working as an Animator and graphic artist at WFLA in Tampa. Why? Well, to begin with, the Art Director is the hilarious PAUL HELLEBUSH and the CSD is the talented LARRY DOYLE, that’s why. Throw in their bayside new building and those palm trees and…hello, it’s Florida. Taking that artistic space is DANNY BROCK. Don’t know much about him…they are keeping him busy. But Well Dunne! anyway.
Remember the old positioning line, “ a Coke and a smile”? Well, the folks at Coke are doing an, uh, interesting online marketing campaign. Do you want to find your online twin via facial profiling? (Confession – I think this is creepy…what about you?)
