When a CSD promotes a producer with the words “greatly deserved’, it’s a doubly good thing. Good for the person getting the promotion and good for the CSD (and company) for nurturing talent. While they might not be able to read this because of the horrific ice storm forecast for their market, the good folks at Scripps in Kansas City have promoted ROBERT HESS ll to Promo Manager of NBC affil KSHB and independent KMCI.  He’s been a Senior Producer for CD RANDY THURMAN, and obviously did a fantastic job. Bob, as he is known, is a grad of the University of Nebraska at Omaha and has a Masters in Communication fro University of Central Missouri.  He started in promo over at WDAF in KC where he was also a shooter and an MMJ, so he knows the news side of the coin. Great big Well Dunne! Mr. Hess.

If you aren’t a fan of RAY RICHMOND’s writing, then a suspicious eye is cast upon you. Ray is great – knows the biz and has written for Variety and The Hollywood Reporter and he’s funny and on target…yes, this is a fan talking. While you read this, if you’re in the LA area, open your scheduler and go to January 16. Now for 7:30 pm, put free reading at Lounge Theatre on Santa Monica of Transition, Ray’s play about the meeting between Obama and Trump. It’s going to run for 5 weeks starting in March, but this reading is free and I bet hilarious. Do it. Be the first. NBCU’s JORDANA HOUCHINS is gonna be there.

Joining the ranks of Manager as well as The Promoted, we have TONY PIERCE, now Promotion Manager of Scripps’ KSHB in Kansas City. Tony has been turning out creative gems for the NBC affiliate as part of CSD RANDY THURMAN’s team for the past three years. Before that, the Washburn U grad (marketing) became a whiz at production, serving as Production Manager of Dimension X Designs in KC. In Topeka, he hit a hatrick of Production Manager slots at Fox affil KTMJ, CBS affil WIBW and NBC affil KSNT. The aforementioned Randy was most enthusiastic about Tony, which is like putting gold stars on his chart. Well Dunne! Tony.

Who is Bob Liodice? He’s President and CEO of the Association of National Advertisers, who got together in Dana Point, CA recently. And he stated that Marketers might be getting too caught up in chasing the latest technological innovations instead of focusing on the core purpose of brand building. Well Bob, come sit next to me.

TONY PIERCE is the newest member of the KSHB creative team. He’s a preditor who isn’t all that nuts over the word, but loves his work. Throwing his skills and background into producing and editing, Tony has moved over from the Production Department at the NBC affil in Kansas City and has been doing that creative thing since the first of March. A Topeka Kansas native, it was his wife who brought him to KC after he worked at FOX in the Kansas capital. He’s lovin’ KC. Well Dunne! Tony!

Interesting change. Sleuth, the detective/crime cable net owned by NBCU is changing their name to Cloo TV. One would think Slooth might have been another choice. Of course, owning the name Cloo must make somebody proud if not a VP.

Every worry about getting your laptop or phone lifted? Cute article about how high tech is making that highly impossible.
