Let’s jump into the WayBack Machine for a moment…revisit 2000’s presidential election. Remember how Florida played a huge part in the outcome? The hanging chad thing? Yeah. Didn’t you want Florida to, among a mile-long list of other things, have a good PR person to help with getting the story sorted? Many newsies did. OK, jump out – History moment over. Now let’s take a gander at the new Outreach and Media Manager at Miami-Dade County Elections Department in, as the title says, Miami. Cue ROBERT RODRIGUEZ. Since Florida is a key voting state, and Miami is the second largest Florida city in population, it’s very reassuring to know Robert will have his eye on things. He knows his stuff and his background includes being Promo Manager at LA’s FOX stations, KTTV and KCOP, and producing for WSMV in Miami. He’s also done government PR for the Property Appraiser down at the tip of the Sunshine State. Robert, Well Dunne!

Will JOHN OLIVER’s folks back off roasting WCBS promos now that LEE GROSSMAN has been promoted? Lee’s been EP and Production Manager at the NYC flagship of the Tiffany Network, and the promos have been part of a bit on HBO’s Last Week Tonight. National publicity is a good thing. Lee has worked his way up the WCBS creative ladder, starting right out of Towson U as an AP and then writer/producer, EP and Production Manager and now Director, On-Air Promotion and Marketing CBS Television Stations. He’ll stay on at WCBS but added leading the CBS CSD’s coast to coast. He’s got a great bunch of talent to lead. Well Dunne! Lee.

All clear and all is well for Well Dunne! Talent’s deep-voiced MITCH PHILLIPS, who avoided any real problems from Hurricane Matthew. He’s just south of Palm Beach (or can it be considered just north of Miami?).

If the answer is yes… then you must, have to, no excuses accepted – get yourself to hear ALBERTO SCIROCCO’s 2:30 Promo BootCamp session (in Gramercy) called Internet Killed the Promo Star: Goose Your Game by Weaning off the Web. Hosted by VALERIE ALBANESE, SVP Brand Creative Lifetime Television, Alberto will talk about fresh inspiration and how to cultivate creative (and it isn’t watching other people’s promos on the net).  Alberto is the Creative Director of leftchannel, a motion graphics and design studio as well as a brand new Well Dunne! Talent member. He knows about artistis inspiration – he hails from Milan (Italy not Michigan) and his history in art dates back to 1586. Most impressive. So go…do it. Enjoy. And Well Dunne! Alberto!

Austin Texas is one of the coolest places to live (truth – traffic was omitted from the assessment). So it great news to hear that LA-based El Rey Network, which is a cable net founded by film guy Robert Rodriguez is moving their production and executive headquarters there. Of course, being a UT Longhorn and being married to an Ausin lady probably helped in the decision. Well Dunne! Austin and El Rey.

There must be something magical in the water cooler down at WOFL in Orlando. Having just bid adieu to JEREMY CLAYPOOL who was headed to KNBC in LA, they are again losing another talent to the LA market. This time, ROBERT RODRIGUEZ is making the move west down I-10 to work at LA’s FOX flagship, KTTV and KCOP. Title – Promotions Manager. Robert is leaving behind fave VP Creative Service CHRIS FRIEDRICHS and his WOFL Promotion Manager title. Robert is going to work with his past boss JIM LADAS, who directed the creative efforts at FOX in DC. With a degree from Florida Atlantic U, Robert started his TV career at WSVN in his hometown of Miami where his boss was….Jim Ladas. So obviously these two make beautiful promos together. First day on the job in LA will be November 7. Safe travels Robert and Well Dunne!

Job Alert – Yes, WOFL is in need of a Promotion Manager.

Two..two…two mints in one. Remember that old line from a commercial for Certs?  Do they even still MAKE Certs? Well, two is the code for the creative team at Orlando’s FOX triopoly – WOFL, WRBW and WOGX. Two separate but equal Promotion Managers are onboard. ROBERT RODRIGUEZ moves down from DC where he was part of JIM LADAS’ department at FOX’s WTTG. Robert and Jim worked together at WSVN in Miami at one time and obviously they got along swimmingly. Now Robert is closer to family and assured that he will never need a snow shovel. Well Dunne! Robert.

Joining Robert as a Promotion Managetr is  JOHN LOPEZ, who didn’t have to pack moving boxes. John is a California guy, hailing from Fresno, who was most recently Promo Manager at Cox’s WFTV/WRDQ in O-town. The BYU grad has worked in the Salt Lake market as well as Seattle’s powerhouse KING. He most recently was doing production for the PR arm of the Universal Theme Parks. Well Dunne! John. See you both soon and shout out to CHRIS FRIEDRICHS.

On the complete other side of the US, KIM HATAMIYA has been promoted at Sony Pictures Television. That’s in Culver City. She’s now EVP/Marketing and has a whole lot of duties for a whole lot of entertainment. Kim has worked at Fox Kids Worldwide. Well Dunne! Kim.

Another new title bestowed is for ALLISON HOFFMAN who is already working as the VP of Creative and Brand Strategy for AMC. Her old title was Director/Consumer Marketing.  She’s worked as Director of Marketing for Rainbow Media, all in New  York City. Well Dunne!

Lots of folks sitting around their hotel rooms are seeing FOX’s promos for new fall shows.
