Getting a bump up the management ladder…let’s hear it for the lovely RONDA WHITE, whose title and responsibilities are now under the Marketing Director banner  at the CBS and indie duop in Phoenix, KPHO and KTVK. She comes to the ‘corner office’ by working and learning about TV at the one and only WFAA in Dallas. She’s an Oklahoma Sooner who knows how to wrangle a brand and brand stations. She spent time at her competition KPNX as Brand Manager before following BLANCA ESPARZA PAPP, who recently got upped to Station Manager at Meredith’s operation. Very Well Dunne! Ronda!

Heading to the amusement capital of America, ie Orlando, FL is Roger, uh, no it’s RON DEJOSEPH. He’s set to take over the CSD slot at WFTV, the ABC affil in the Big O. The Cox-owned station gets Ron from sister station WHBQ, Fox, in Mempis. Before Memphis, he was at WSOC in Charlotte as Promo Manager. He’s an amazing competitor and a great guy who has a lovely dog. I bet the Lake Cherokee dog folks will welcome you both once you get to your new city. Ron has also edited for ESPN. Way to go rog…Ron! Well Dunne!

When someone is regarded as a jewel, it means they really know their stuff. When the new Promotion Manager of Cox’s WHBQ, Fox in Memphis, is referred to as a jewel, it’s got a double meaning because she’s a certified diamondtologist. Wow…so cool. The lady with the lupe in her eye and the new title is EMILY STRICKLIN-YATES. CSD RON DEJOSEPH has promoted her  from being a writer producer and sounded very happy about it when he shared the news. Emily is a grad of Middle Tennessee State U in Murfreesboro and worked in Jackson, MS as an evening news producer for WDBD before going to Memphis to produce promos for FOX 13. She’s a jewel for sure (and can tell you if your sparkler is a good one). Well Dunne! Emily.

As autumn finds stations hunkering down and planning ahead for what that the next several months demand, it’s good to see slots being filled so hardworking promo pros aren’t over stretched (since there’s plenty to do without having an empty chair). Down Memphis way, TIM DOYLE has joined CSD RON DEJOSEPH at Cox’s WHBQ; hard on the Mississippi and home of bar-b-q and a real pyramid. Tim has a Masters in Film & Video Production at University of Memphis as well as a degree in advertising from Middle Tennessee State. Man knows his stuff. Before joining Ron, Tim was Sr. Writer Producer at Memphis’ WREG. From the sound of things, they’re having a blast in Memphis. A big happy Well Dunne! Tim.

Scott Fitzgerald said there were no second acts to American lives. Things have changed; many creative types not only have second acts, but concurrent lives. One such modern is DARYN JOHNSON, who is on the road to Tampa’s WFTS where he’ll be live directing news and events. That’s one act. Act two is his voice work. He’s amazing. Daryn has been directing at Fox in Philly – the man hitting buttons for “Good Day Philadelphia” to be precise. His move to the Scripps ABC affil is for the best of reasons – to be closer to family. He’s been a director for WOFL and WESH in the Orlando markets as well as several production companies. But let’s focus on his voice work.  Of course, he’s Well Dunne! and with that, we send him kudos and all the best. And you…well, send good thoughts but listen and see if he’s not just the sound you need. Go on…do it.

ANGELA COURTIN has three new initials to add to her business card: CMO. Love those three initials.  The striking redhead is joining FOX as the VP and Chief Marketing Officer for the network. Angela is an Oklahoma State U Cowboy who’s making the switch to Fox just in time, since her old post at Relativity Media is going away (poor Relativity declared bankruptcy Friday). Ms Angela has worked at MTV, Aegis as well as been a producer for HBO’s Big Love. Very interesting background. A big Well Dunne! for a big job.

It will be interesting to weigh in with RON DEJOSEPH in a few months to see just who he thinks has the best bar-b-q; Carolina or Memphis. Both North Carolina and Memphis are noted for their grilled meats and sauce, boasting excellence to beat anyone else. Mr. D can let us know what he thinks. Meanwhile, Ron is headed to Memphis to head up his first creative department as Creative Services Director for WHBQ, the recently acquired Cox Fox (yes that is fun to say) affiliate hard on the Mississippi. He’ll be heading west from Charlotte, where he held a series of career step titles at Cox’s ABC affil WSOC TV. His former title is Promotion Manager. He grew up on Long Island and has called The Queen City home for quite some time, beginning with an editing gig for ESPN Regional TV. He’s a super graphics guy – did we mention that? He promises to ‘coxify’ his new operation – how fun! The Pop Warner Football people in Charlotte will especially miss him – he was a coach for eleven years. The DeJoseph family (Ron and his dog) will be settling in to Memphis, so let’s send them all a big Well Dunne!

Charlotte NC is named after Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, the wife of King George III of Great Britain. Yes, it was under his watch that we colonists rather acted up and formed our own country. Anyway, Charlotte is home to the Cox ABC affil WSOC, which is the home of RON DEJOSEPH, the newest member of the TV Promotion Manager club. Starting at ESPN where he edited, he made the switch to WSOC as an editor and then motion graphics guy…working his talent into super spots as producer. Now he’s booted to Promo Manager and he really knows his stuff. Well Dunne! Ron.
