Let’s make a list of things about living in the desert, or more precisely in Phoenix. 1 – Saguaro cactus – always waving hello. 2 – Sunsets so beautiful they defy description 3 – no humidity 4 – Sunshine galore 5 – The List. Now let’s make a list of things SUZANNE STONEFIELD and the desert, more precisely Phoenix, have in common. 1 – likes Saguaro cactus. 2 – likes sunsets 3 – likes a dry heat 4 – not adverse to sunshine 5 – newest promo writer producer for The List. Ms. Suzanne is heading west to join the team at Scripps’ The List, where she’ll be a lovely addition to the station-savvy creatives like LAUREL PORTIE and BRANDT DOTSON. Suzanne is departing the writer producer slot at Tegna’s WTSP, which is in another amazingly ideal market, Tampa. A New Hampshire native, she’s been lucky enough to follow a career path that includes promoting in Myrtle Beach, Portland Maine and Seattle. The crystal ball sees many happy days ahead, in the sunshine, waving at some cactus, poolside. Well Dunne! Suzanne.

Have you seen the brilliant 7 rainy days in a row weather forecast done on BBC Radio? I mean, who wouldn’t love this as a weather forecast? Nobody. Anybody have a weather person with this kind of cool?

“I was only there such a short time when the call came.” This is how the conversation with GABE LUNA began. Gabe is a major favorite (thank you LAUREL PORTIE) and a totally creative ‘One To Watch’ who is the new Promotion Manager of Scripps’ KGUN in Tucson. The call he refers to is one from his father, who had gotten the green light for a double lung transplant. Of course Gabe had to be there, so into the car he jumped and drove I-10 to San Antonio, no doubt in record time. His boss at KGUN, ANDY SCHWABE, and the rest of the management team was supportive, even with the November ratings book workload. Now THAT, people, is a good operation. Andy is a leader who described his new hire this way: “He’s going to bring fresh creativity and energy to our already fantastic group of talented marketing professionals." Papa Luna is slowly recovering, and if you have any extra good thoughts you might want to send them his way. Gabe is back in Arizona, hard at work at KGUN and has a plateful of blessings for which to be thankful next Thursday. Gabe is a San Antonio guy who attended SAC (San Antonio College, which is nearly next to the best restaurant in town) and worked as Production Director of the Trinity Broadcasting Network before jumping into promo work at Sinclair’s operation in the Alamo City. He also honed his promo chops in Seattle. Get Well to Gabe’s dad and Well Dunne! to Gabe.

Sending condolences to KLAS CSD HENRY VASQUEZ who lost his mother this week.

No secret how evocative the name Valley of the Sun is. Phoenix’s nickname alludes to the idea of market #12 being an oasis in the great Southwest high country. Magical in a way. An amazing locale that is home to a burgeoning creative sector. The latest creative member to hit the city limits is LAUREL PORTIE. Ms. Laurel is reporting for work as the new promo writer-producer for The List, the syndicated strip produced by Scripps at their KNXV locale. A native of south Louisiana, she’ll handle the heat very well, thanks for asking. Sans humidity, it will be devine. Laurel has the knack for promotion and has worked and learned at such operations as CBS’s KTVT in Dallas/Ft. Worth, Sinclair’s operation in San Antonio and Media General’s WNCT in Greenville, NC. (All humidity markets, fyi). It’s a mutual admiration society with her new boss, ED ROTH, Marketing Manager for The List. BTW, Ms. Laurel is also a musician and has played all over – ask her about Mrs. Howel. A big smile along with a huge Well Dunne! Laurel.

2C Media has changed their name…it’s now 2C Creative. Even more excitement is on tap – they have wrangled the best talent you can imagine. Make a note…and check them out. They rock!

Think About This: "You do not have to like what is going on in your life, but you must accept that it, whatever it is, is going on. As long as you do not accept reality, you are powerless to define the role you will play. Failure to accept reality is a denial of your power to make a conscious choice. When you do not choose, you live by default. You are a victim of circumstances."  ~ Iyanla Vanzant
