The last few days have certainly been, uh, interesting. There was joy and gratitude and the sharing of feelings that bind us as humans. For instance, former promo pro JIM GRAVINA, who is now tearing it up at the DC Agency Shine Creative got married. He and his gorgeous bride are actually on their way to Niagara Falls. Love it!

Up in Raleigh, where the outer bands of Hurricane Matthew raged, WRAL’s SHELLY LESLIE has quite the story regarding a huge heavy tree that fell…right on the car she was in. The tree fell perfectly between her house, not hitting anything. It fell on the car, but didn’t hurt her or her passenger. It’s angelic.

Bright days ahead for WJLA’s ZOHRA ALNOOR got engaged! The lady with the great smile now has the greatest smile. Yes, happiness in spades for this wonderfully talented young lady.

Come back tomorrow when we’ll have people news from Portland, Maine..and…

Interesting article from The Guardian about how decisions today – decisions that effect every one of our lives – are being made today, and it’s not like in the past.  Read the article and think about how this impacts creatives.

Raleigh’s WRAL has not one but two people who are smiling more broadly than usual. First, DON  URSICH is moving into the Promotion Writer/Producer slot that CSD SHELLY LESLIE has had open while she searched for the perfect team member. Don was nearly under her nose…he was at sister station Fox 50 in The Triangle. Don started his career as a director in Ohio, and made the transition to promotion at Raleigh’s CW22. He joined FOX 50 the first time back in 2009, then worked at CBC’s Charlotte stations as producer and promotion manager, then came back to FOX last year.

But wait – there’s more. JUSTIN ARNER is now handling Topicals at WRAL. He’s been writing and producing (and winning awards for his efforts) so now his work will get prime time exposure. Well Dunne! to both Don and Justin.

Climbing the sports ladder, so to speak, is JEFF GORNBEIN, who is now an Editor at Fox Sports Media Group in LA. He’s been writing and producing for them, and this is a promotion. He’s a Chapman U grad who has edited at such LA creative shops as Ant Farm, Craig Murry Prods and Imaginary Forces. He’s been at NBCU doing promos for Chiller, Universal HD, Sleuth and NBC2Go.
