You know how some people are East Coast People and some are West Coast People…well, put STEVE POITRAS down as definitely a West Coast guy. As a matter of fact, he’s really a total Californian. And in keeping with his Golden State identity, he’s got a new job right across the bay from his last one. Mr. P is the new Creative Services Director for KRON, the Young- Media General operation in the city made famous for tech, and chocolate. And hills. Steve had been over at FOX’s KTVU in Oakland. It was his second time at KTVU, once back when Cox owned the station and he was Director of Marketing. The UCLA grad spent several years at CBS’ KPIX as VP Station Manager and was in LA as VP Marketing for Trib’s KTLA. Still hugging the Pacific, he was CSD for KFMB in San Diego. If Location is a gift, Steve is one lucky guy. Well Dunne! Steve.

STEVE POITRAS is one lucky guy. For the last few years, he’s been living in the San Diego market, which has the best weather in the US (sorry, Honolulu and Maui, but your humidity makes you #2). While in SD, he was heading up the marketing efforts for CBS affil KFMB. He has an remarkable background including VP Marketing and Creative at Tribune’s KTLA in LA (super weather) and VP Station Manager KPIX CBS in San Francisco. For 15 years, Steve was the Director of Marketing for Cox’s KTVU in the Bay Area…and he’s now ‘going home’ to take the reigns again for Fox SF. Yep, one lucky guy and one lucky station. Well Dunne! Steve.

This Monday is the first day at KFMB for STEVE POITRAS, who kicks off his creative tenure  at the San Diego CBS affil, not doubt with flourish. Steve has a killer resume that includes being VP Creative at KTLA, Director of Marketing at KTVU in SF and VP Station Manager at KPIX. The  UCLA alum is making the switch to KFMB from handling business development at WeVideo.com. Well Dunne! sir!

Reminder on Daylight savings and all that nonsense with the time. Hawaii and Arizona don’t play the daylight savings game and their times are not changing. Hawaii is now 2 hours behind the west coast and 5 hours behind the east. Arizona is now on mountain time. Carry on.

But if he spends his days as a speculator, shearing off those woods and making the earth bald before her time, he is deemed an industrious and enterprising citizen.”  ~ Henry David Thoreau

Today is 3-22-11…that’s just kinda fun….

Snow isn’t the same from place to place. This is a lesson that STEVE CARTER is going to learn first hand when he leaves The Mile High City for coastal Maine. Steve has just been named President and General Manager of Gannett’s NBC affil WCSH in Portland, ME. He’s leaving his slot of VP of Marketing and Promotions at Gannett’s Denver duopoloy KUSA-KTVD. The white fluffy dry snow of Colorado will be different in Maine, but Portland is such a great place, it probably won’t make a bit of difference that it’s much wetter and sticks to the windshield in the morning. Steve has a degree in broadcasting and speech communication from Minnesota State University in Marshall and has been promotion manager at KSFY in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Been in Denver since ’92 where he started as a promo writer producer and worked his way up. Love seeing Gannett under President DAVE LOUGEE recognize that marketing people and promo folk are great GM’s. Well Dunne! Steve.

Out west, another Steve is switching jobs as well. STEVE POITRAS is giving up his VP of Marketing role at Tribune’s KTLA to become EVP of Business Development and Marketing at Veduto. The Woodland Hills based company is a delivery system for video and info via IP. Steve has been at local stations heading marketing efforts for KPIX and KTVU in the Bay area. Best of luck, Steve! And keep in touch. Well Dunne!
