There’s a marvelous San Antonio vibe going on in Seattle. Nothing to do with sports…it’s a TV thing. Eminates over at KIRO, where Sr. Producer LAUREL PORTIE, who worked in Texas’ River City at KABB’s operation under the wonderful AZALIA HOELTING, has welcomed GABRIEL LUNA to the great Northwest. He’ll be doing promos at the CBS Cox-owned station working with CSD SUSAN CONNOR. Gabe’s a true born San Antonian (they used to have Native Texan license plates for those who hit the planet in Texas) who did promo at KABB and then was upped to do promos and Graphic Arts when Sinclair combined KABB with WOAI. Word is he’s a filmmaker at heart and he and the lovely Mrs. Luna are snapping pix all over in their new city. Laurel and he will be on the hunt for a good Mexican food restaurant in the land of coffee and salmon. If you know of one – share. Well Dunne! Gabe.

CBS affil KIRO in sleek Seattle has another new member of their creative team. Welcome banners will be hung next Monday for JEFF PARDEN, the new Promotion Manager. He’ll be coming west from his slot as PM at CBS’ KCNC in Denver. Jeff is a Colorado State grad who started TV life producing news at Albuquerque’s KOB TV. He transitioned to promo in The Duke City and from there headed to another mile high city – Denver, where he honed his promo chops at KDVR/KWGN before getting picked up at KCNC. BTW, he and his new CSD SUSAN CONNOR crossed paths in New Mexico where he worked for her writing and producing promos. She couldn’t be happier to reconnect and welcome Jeff to her department. Don’t you just love it when an up-and-coming creative takes the next step and calls all happy about a new slot? It’s great. So when LAUREL PORTIE shared that she has a fabulous new job and she starts the end of June, it was indeed a happy share. Ms. Laurel loves her old job, working with AZALIA HOELTING down San Antonio way for Fox affil KABB where she’s a writer producer and social media manager. She’ll miss the River Walk, the Texas music scene and Fiesta, but she’s very pumped to head to the Pacific Northwest where she’ll be Sr. Writer Producer for Seattle’s KIRO. THAT will be a fun road trip! She’s a Louisiana lady by birth and has worked for uber-creative DAVID HERSHEY at CBS’ KTVT in DFW. She’s also learned her craft at Greenville NC’s WNCT. Best yet, she’s going to work for SUSAN CONNOR who is heading up the KIRO creative team. Very Well Dunne! Laurel.
