Kudos to Promotion Manager JAMES GRIFFEL and the weather crew down at Palm Beach’s WPTV…their live Hurricane Matthew update on Facebook last night was great. Exactly what social media is meant to do. Was too slow to get a screen grab…will have to find out what they used…iPhone, etc. Well Dunne! James.

In NYC today (Tuesday)? Don’t miss your chance to have a picture with a Yeti. I presume it’s a real one, eh? Even in this nutzo election year, a Yeti is pretty rare on the NYC streets. Head to Flatiron Pedestrian Plaza (5th Ave and 23rd St) about 10 and smile. Not sure if saying cheese will set him off, but you can if you want. If you’re otherwise engaged, look for Yetis all over the Apple. 26 of them are promised. Iced coffee will be gratis at Union Square in the afternoon. This is all thanks to the Creatives in the Travel Channel promo department – they’re pushing Expedition Unknown: Hunt for the Yeti which premieres Wednesday. Don’t you just love the iced coffee touch? Well Dunne! Travel Channel.

The new Senior VP and General Manager of Digital for Travel Channel is MARIETTA HURWITZ, who has so much new media experience, she should have dot com as her new last name.  She comes to Travel from working with Ovation and Bouley Test Kitchen, doing consulting. She’s been SVP of Oprah.com and VP of Digital Marketing and Content at Bravo Digital. Besides being a member of BAFTA, Marietta holds Master of Communications Management from Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University.  Well Dunne! Marietta.

It’s rather cliché but so much fun to say Bravo to Bravo’s MARIA LAINO DELUCA, who has been promoted to Vice President of Trade Marketing for the cabler. She changes the Senior Director title for the VP stripes. Always cool to join the VP club. Her background includes MTV marketing slots, like Director of Brand Marketing for Nickeloeon and Programming Coordinator for TV Land. The Hofstra grad has a Masters in Media from New School. Well Dunne! Maria.

Think About This: "To some people, surrender may have negative connotations, implying defeat, giving up, failing to rise to the challenges of life, becoming lethargic, and so on. True surrender, however, is something entirely different. It does not mean to passively put up with whatever situation you find yourself in and to do nothing about it. Nor does it mean to cease making plans or initiating positive action. Surrender is the simple but profound wisdom of yielding to, rather than opposing the flow of life.” ~ Eckhart Tolle
