Getting hired on to a fulltime job is not only a promotion, but it’s an acknowledgement of a person who fits into the group dynamic. Plus it shows a company that values what you can bring while ensuring you have a paycheck to count on. Very nice all round. Up in Utica at Nexstar’s WUTR, this very Monday is the beginning of COLTON SHANAHAN’s full time gig doing production and promo. It’s not his first job…no. The talented Colton has run camera and directed a short film. He earned degrees in Cinema Screen Studies and Audio Production. Well Dunne! Colton.
The newest member of the VP club got his stripes before the end of the year, but with January being the longest 31 days in a long time, we’re finally getting around to sending out the kudos and congrats. After holding down the creative fort at NBC in DC for quite some time, PATRICK STAPLETON has been given the title he so well deserves: Vice President Brand Marketing. Very good news and a reason for a hearty Well Dunne! Patrick.

Up in Green Bay, the new CSD for Scripp’s WGBA has the same name as one of the Dr. Who actors. MATTHEW SMITH might not have a TARDIS, but his new title is a promotion from his Sr. Writer Producer slot which he held at WXYZ in Detroit. Very nice. He moves west from the motor city, of course, but the real interesting spark is in his Florida time. The Full Sail grad (that is the most amazing place…people you need to know the talented grads from here) once worked at Universal in Orlando as a character. Some of the very best had done this: WRC’s RICK YARBOROUGH to name one. From Tigger to I-Team Exec Producer in DC. See?…Back to Matthew, who also worked for Scripps in Ft. Myers where he got the promo bug. A writer, editor, entertainer…he’s gonna melt the snow this winter in Green Bay. Well Dunne! Matthew.

Think About This: “When the song of the angels is stilled, when the star in the sky is gone, When the kinds and princes are home, When the shepherds are back with their flock – the work of Christmas begins. To find the lost, to heal the broken, to feed the hungry, to release the prisoners, to rebuild the nations, to bring peace among brothers, to make music in the heart.” ~ thanks to the wonderful GEORGIA SCOTT of The Agency.
Perhaps it’s time to consider a lottery ticket purchase, PATRICK STAPLETON. Yes, you’re on a roll and things are coming your way. First off, Patrick is a new dad, having welcomed Patrick, Jr just weeks ago. Adorable to the max…I bet he’ll have his father’s smile, which is one that lights up a room. He and the Mrs., who is a Senior Producer at MSNBC, are over the moon. But wait, there’s more. In a few weeks, Papa Patrick begins a new job…one that he says is a dream come true. He’ll be moving down from NYC where he’s been a promo producer for ABC’s WABC to DC where he’ll be Promotion Manager for NBC’s WRC. Impressive and exciting. The Chicago native is a Georgia Bulldog who honed his promo and managerial chops at WIS in Columbia, SC. He’ll be a super dad, a great Manager…and he is a sweetie top to bottom. Let’s all smile and say ‘Well Dunne! Patrick.’ And remember your friends when that lottery ticket pays off.
